Cotumittees
The PCC operates through a number of conllnitkes or groups wbich met between full meetings
of the PCC.
The following conllnittees operated during the yeat:
Standing Con)Jnittee and Pastoral Group
Chur¢h Attendance
The electOTal roll was revised during February and March. Numbers reported to the APCM in
OCto￿r were 124, of whom 41 not resideut within the Parish boundaries.
In the first 10 weeks ofthe year, preceding the first national lockdoMry4 average aduIt attendance
on Sunday morning was 67, though in tbe I I week (the week before the lockdown began)
only 34 adults came. Church was not open for public worshtp from 16th March until 2. August.
Public Worship resutned on 2. August and continued until I, Noven]ber under Covid Safe
conditions during NTrthich titne adult attendance a￿traged 23. Public Worship Tesumed, again
under Covid Safe conditions, on O Decfflllber until Christnw Day, there being no service on
Sunday 27 DecembeT. For the five services offered in this time the averag¢ adult attendance
was 25. Average under 18 attelldance in the first PETiod to M￿ch was 22 and in both periods
thereafter 6. Adult attendatLce on Il'ednesdays during January to March was 14 and in the
period ktween August and November, 8.
Revieiy of the year
Because of the national lockdowi]s and the restrictions necessary PCC met only on 2 occasions
during tbe year with all average attendance on 780/0. These ￿eetIllgs were held prior to the f￿st
national lockdown. Standing CommiTtee conducted urgent PCC business for the Tell￿1nder of
the year including risk assessments for re-opening for public worship. PCC were kept infotmed
of decisions and recornmendatious for opening and closing were made by PCC using ell￿11.
PCC was also asked to confitm the appointment of Revd Frances Tyler as a replacetnent
Foulldation GoTremor for The Revd Dmitry Lutsenko who l)ad been appointed at the beginning
of the year following the resignation of Stephen Baker. It had been necessary to appoint a
Foundation Governor quickly at the beginning of the year because a SIAMS (Statutory
Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) inspection was due during the year. The
pandemic caused this to be postponed and Dmity's appointtnent to a new role at the end of the
year meant another Foundation Governor needed to be in place quickly for the postponed
Inspectio￿ now due ill 2021.

The year began happily though with the appointtnent of The Revd Dmity Lutsenko as all
Associate Minister at St Mary's. Dmity and his family soon settled into our routines but
almost before we could reaiise, the CoronavIn￿ pandetnic was upon us. Dmity had taken on
responsibility for Junior Church and had managed to call together all the leaders to work out a
way forward when suddenly all this had to bc cancelled. He had been a great help both at
Luncheon Club and Butterfjies Toddler Group before they too were cancelled.
Morning Prayer w&s estsblisbed Oll Zoom and the clergy met regularly for prayers, joiued by a
small band of other regulars from about June onwatds (and still do).
2020 klas however been perhaps the strangest year many of us have eveT experienced. The
national lockdowks aud social distallcing meant that n]any of OUT usual church activities were
either severely curtailed or cancelle(L Standing Comn]ittee met to ensure that the necessary
risk assessments were in place for re-opelling church and that Nvor5hip between N'ovember and
December took place over Zoom. Sadl}'. Luncheon Club aud Butterflies had to be cancelle
together the Lent Group wbicPJ bad started to look at the Lord's Prayer Course fronted by
Pete Grieg. Junior Church also came to an end in March tbough ￿￿terial posted online
weekly frotn August untkl December. The regular service to Elm Fartll Care Home also had to
come to an end. Only two weddings took place during the year. one before the [￿st national
lockdow￿ and one in AugusL the others either cancelling or being ie-aTtanged. SirnilaTIy,
baptisms effectively catne to an end in March. Church funerals iesutlled in July under Covid
Safe conditions.
It was immensely sad that the death of The Revd Owen Vige£)n on 20 May came at a time
when it was not possible for his service to ￿ ill ChuTcb and so only his immediate family and
a few otheTS were able to attend the service at Canley Crematorium.
In order to maintain contact with parishioners weekly worship material has been sent out to all
members of the congregation either by post or through email. This included the readings for
the week, together with suggested intercessions and a thought on the lessons. These have been
greatly appreciated especially bj those unable to get to church. Phone calls have been the
safest means of keeping in touch otherwise and PCC is grateful for the ways many bave taken
on the task of keeping in touch people.
As pubIie worsbip was peTmitted in Septernber and October it Was possible to celebrate Harvest
in church and Dmitry led the servi¢¢, dollatiolls b¢ing made to the Trussell Twt Foodbank
organisation.
The Annual Cbristm&s Card was produced as usual thougb distributed online or to uon-
computer users by posL People were asked to donate to a charity of their ckloice though several
made their donations to St Mary's foT wbich PCC is grate￿1.
During the year the following number of occasional offices were conducted at St Mary's
Weddings
Funerals in Church
Funerals at the Crejnatorium or GTaveside 10
Burials of cremated remains
Baptisms

I am ple&%ed to say that no incidents of a safeguarding nature weTe reported to PCC during the
year.
IVThere possible Sue Morton, Malcolm and Dmtty took Holy Con]munion to people in their
homes before the national lockdown. Malcolm, Dmitry and Frnices were also able to visit
several people with Holy Cornmunion before Christm4 wgeting those especially who Ijad
been unable to visit church itself since March.
Malcolm contillued as Chair of Directors of the Inspire Education Trust which took up
considerable ti]ne during the yeaT as schools in the Tn￿t had to cope with the rapidly changing
landscape of education. Dmity served th¢ as a Foundation Governor at Walsgrave
Academy prior to his ap￿i￿t￿ellt as Rector of St Mary's, Horsell in the Guildford Diocese,
his fillal service at St Mary's being on 10 January 2021.
