Aim and purposes
The Chwaen Goch Turbine Fund was established with the sole purpose of distributing money provided by Medium Scale Wind No.1 Limited for the benefit of the local community during the 25 year operational lifetime of the scheme (a single wind turbine located at Chwaen Goch farm, Llanerchymedd, LL71 7BP).
Objectives
The objective of the fund is to provide funding of up to £2,500.00 for any local good cause or project, and priority will be given to projects within a 5 mile radius of the turbine location.
Financial Review
The opening balance on the 1[st] of May 2024 was £8,888.60. The income received was £2,500.00 annual payment as agreed by Medium Scale Wind No.1 Limited, and this was received on 19/11/24, as well as £5.00 paid in by Mr Carwyn Thomas on 24/1/25 to keep the account active as required by HSBC.
The trustee’s decided to have a ‘fallow year’ for 24/25 due to having numerous consecutive years of heavy funding rounds and the balance of the account having dropped below £9,000. The aim of this being to allow the funds to build up again in order to meet the demand for a funding round in 25/26.
Outgoings amounted to bank charges totalling £60.00
This gave the Turbine Fund a closing balance on the 30 of April 2025 of £11,333.60
Structure, governance and management
The Chwaen Goch Turbine Fund ratified its constitution as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 28 April 2017 and was entered on the Register of Charities on 5 September 2017 (Registered charity number: 1174517). It is made up of 4 trustees from the local community who will be responsible for reviewing all applications for funds and deciding how to distribute the money.
