## Aim and purposes
The Chwaen Goch Turbine Fund was established with the sole purpose of distributing money provided by Medium Scale Wind No.1 Limited for the benefit of the local community during the operational lifetime of the scheme (a single wind turbine located at Chwaen Goch farm, Llanerchymedd, LL71 7BP).
## Objectves
The objective of the fund is to provide funding of up to £2,500.00 for any local good cause or project, and priority will be given to projects within a 5 mile radius of the turbine location.
## Financial Review
The opening balance on the 1[st] of May 2022 was £16,841.40. The income received was £2,500.00 annual payment as agreed by Medium Scale Wind No.1 Limited, and this was received on 18/11/22, as well as £10.00 paid in by Mr Carwyn Thomas on 23/9/22 to keep the account active as required by HSBC.
The fund received three applications during the 2022/23 funding round, with all three applications being successful. Two of the applications receiving the full amount sought for their respective projects, with the third receiving 63%. The projects and grants distributed are summarised below:
Capel Ifan Chapel, Llanerchymedd: New windows for vestry. Total project cost: £5,760.00 Grant sought: £2,500.00 Grant received: £2,500.00
Llanerchymedd Junior Football Club: New goals and rain jackets.
Total project cost: £1192.68 Grant sought: £1000.00 Grant received: £1000.00
Llanerchymedd Football Club: Field and drainage improvements for football pitch by professional groundworks company.
Total project cost: £2,372.00 Grant sought: £2,372.00 Grant received: £1,500.00
The trustees had some reservations over this application. The main concern being that this was the football club’s second application in a row for continual ground maintenance, which did not fit completely with the fund’s ethos of providing support for specific projects. The trustees felt that the work carried out would not leave a lasting impression. These considerations, combined with the fact that the “pot of money” is going down led to the decision that we offered a grant of £1500 to the football club, which was around 63% of the money sought. This offer was accepted.
Total grants distributed: £5,000.00.
In addition to the grants distributed the other outgoings were bank charges totalling £60.40
This gave the Turbine Fund a closing balance on the 30 of April 2023 of £14,291.00
Structure, governance and management
The Chwaen Goch Turbine Fund ratified its constitution as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 28 April 2017 and was entered on the Register of Charities on 5 September 2017 (Registered charity number: 1174517). It is made up of 4 trustees from the local community who will be responsible for reviewing all applications for funds and deciding how to distribute the money.
