## SECTION C: Objectives and activities 

## **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** 

FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF EASTBY AND THE SURROUNDING AREA (“THE AREA OF BENEFIT”) TO PROVIDE OR ASSIST IN THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES FOR RECREATION AND OTHER LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE INHABITANTS OF THE AREA OF BENEFIT IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY THE PRESERVATION, PROMOTION, SUPPORT, ASSISTANCE AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE EASTBY RECREATION GROUND. 

## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation  to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** 

The CIO has power to do anything which is calculated to further its objects or is conducive or incidental to doing so. In particular, the CIO’s powers include power to: 

1. provide a Forum for exchanges of views and requirements of benefit to the recreation ground; 

   - a. ‘Embsay with Eastby Environmental Action Group’ continue to assist with managing planting and environmental aspects of the playground. 

   - b. Liaison with the Parish Council, who are responsible for maintenance, has continued. 

2. raise funds for the development of the recreation ground; 

   - a. No activity during the year as the current trustees have indicated they wish to retire and have been actively seeking replacements. 

3. monitor the recreation ground in support of the maintenance work of the Parish Council; 

   - a. The playground is tidy, well maintained and regularly used by children, families and adults – both local and visitors. 

   - b. The ‘Embsay with Eastby Environmental Action Group’ continue to assist with managing the flower beds and planting to improve the appearance and environment of the playground area. 

4. network and form partnerships with other organisations and agencies; 

   - a. continue  partnership with ‘Embsay with Eastby Environmental Action Group’. 

   - b. Liaise with Parish Council to recruit more trustees, maintenance issues and to discuss future developments to the playground.

## SECTION D: Achievements and performance 

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

Extensive attempts to recruit two more trustees to replace long serving ones. Despite advertising on village website, village shop, Parish Council meetings, social media and personal conversations only two people have come forward namely: Mark Wilson and Paul Conyers.

Funds raised are designated for specific aspects of our strategic plan and held in our charity account until we have sufficient funds.  Any non-descript donations are used at the Trustees discretion and typically go towards funding events.
