our prime objective —the
erection ofthe statue —on 10'" February 2022. We were honoured| |---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---| ||||||||beyond
our wildest dreams
when
HM King Charles
III (then,
HRH| ||||||||Prince ofWales) agreed to unveil the statue.
However,
on the day,| ||||||||HM King Charles was indisposed,
and the unveiling
was excellently| ||||||||undertaken
by Nigel Atkinson
Esq. , HM Lord-Lieutenant
of| ||||||||Hampshire.
We could not have been more delighted
to host HM| ||||||||King Charles three weeks later when he visited the statue.| ||||||||The unveiling
was accompanied
by a reception
in the Great Hall of| ||||||||Winchester
Castle, an exhibition
for the public, and the distribution| ||||||||of an information

The statue has
been exceptionally
well received
by all visitors and is now forming
the fulcrum
ofour educational

Key
Stage 3 lessons,
and these are now available free to schools

Hampshire,

by| ||||||||Rebecca Abrams
and entitled
"Licoricia ofWinchester:
Power and| ||||||||Prejudice
in Medieval
England".
This was published
in the summer| ||||||||of2022.| ||||||||Fund-raising
continued
throughout
the year and our ambitions
were| ||||||||achieved
thanks to many very generous
donations.| ||||||||The trustees
have had regard to the guidance

by the| ||||||||Charity Commission

The unveiling
and royal visit were the highlights
ofthe year, but
much was accomplished
towards
our other goals also.
Phase|| ||||One ofthe project was to erect the statue
with an information
board|| ||||close to it, hold a small exhibition
to accompany
the unveiling,|| ||||create Key Stage 3 lessons for children,
produce
and distribute|an| ||||information
leaflet, and publish
our book.
With the publication
of|| ||||the book in the summer
of2022, all these have been achieved,|| ||||with the exception ofthe information
board, where good progress|| ||||has subsequently
been made towards
its completion.|| ||||The statue|| ||||The unveiling
ofthe statue was preceded
by hard work by sculptor,|| ||||lan Rank-Broadley,
in finishing
the life-size statue, casting and|| ||||patinating
it. There was also much to do in submitting
a request|for| ||||planning
permission,
finalising
the statue site, and designing
and|| ||||commissioning
the plinth.|| ||||Much work went into preparations
for the unveiling,
and we are|| ||||grateful for all the assistance we received
from Hampshire
County|| ||||Council
in organising
it. We were extremely
pleased
that the|| ||||unveiling
was supported
by a wide range ofsenior faith and other|| ||||leaders,
with the help ofthe Council ofChristians
and Jews.

in Winchester's
Great Hall as part of Her|| ||||Late Majesty Queen
Elizabeth
II's Platinum
Jubilee celebrations.|| ||||Klezmer music was again played,
and a guard of honour was|| ||||provided
by the Gurkhas.
At the Great Hall, a speech was given|| ||||on Licoricia's connections
with Winchester
