REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
For the Year ending April 2021
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The objective of the CIO is:
To promote and protect the good health and wellbeing of pregnant women, mothers and their families by offering support, information and guidance.
Activities
We currently offered services to parents and their families in Birmingham and Solihull.
We have successfully done this with the Walk and Talk sessions across Birmingham and Solihull. In June 2020 we also did an online Wriggle Read and Rhyme time session for 5 weeks to support local parents with online activities for them and their children when they were isolating during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chair’s report
April 2020 – April 2021
Chair’s report
I would like to start by thanking everyone for their continued hard work, resourcefulness and resilience over the year which has seen very difficult times for families across Birmingham and Solihull.
Having decided in January 2020 to focus on more postnatal activities we have been fortunate to have been able to continue our Walk and Talk project in a safe way for the families to take part.
As part of the money raised we were able to devise a Wriggle read and Rhyme time session online for families that may have been isolating due to the pandemic. This was successful and the feedback from this was positive. This was an alternative for families that may not have been able to access other services.
I would like to take the opportunity to give thanks to:
-
Our funders, without your continued support we would not have been able to deliver our sessions.
-
Service users, without you we wouldn’t be the charity that we are. You are the reason why we are still here and still actively present in our communities.
-
Referrers, for recognising the services we provide and making the referrals that have seen our sessions well attended. It has been a privilege to work with you.
-
Finally, to all of the Volunteers who continue to provide time, commitment and passion to Positive Birthing and Beyond. The charity could not be where it is today and have the positive impact it does without you.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
Positive Birthing and Beyond CIO is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission on 30 August 2017.
It is governed by a board of trustees. All new trustees are given, in the view of the trustees, sufficient training and have enough knowledge to control the charity's governance, strategy and operations effectively. Trustees are recruited, on the basis of having a broad range of knowledge and experience across the board of trustees.
Appointment of Trustees
In accordance with the terms of the constitution there must be at least three charity trustees. If the number falls below this minimum, the remaining trustees may only act to call a meeting of the charity trustees, or appoint a new charity trustee. Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed for a term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.
Any member of the public wishing to become a Trustee must provide an expression of interest in the event of a vacancy. The prospective applicant will then be given an opportunity to observe a board meeting which can then be followed by an application. Upon successful appointment the applicant will be DBS checked where appropriate and will be skills based audited. Upon conclusion of the process and satisfactory results, the applicant will be formally invited to join the board.
Reserves policy
The trustees do not currently have a reserves policy as the charity does not employ staff or acquire any liabilities. At an appropriate time the trustees are likely to adopt a policy of at least three months running costs.
Going concern
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis as the trustees believe that no material uncertainties exist. The trustees have considered the level of funds held and the expected level of income and expenditure for 12 months from authorising these financial statements.
FUTURE PLANS
We as an organisation aim to continue supporting local women and their families in Birmingham and Solihull.
Positive Birthing and Beyond wants equality for all women, we want all women to feel that they all have access to holistic maternity services irrespective of location and finance. Promoting informed choice so women and their families can experience positive birth experiences.
