## **TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 28TH FEBRUARY 2022**

## **SUMMARY OF TRUSTEE MEETINGS**

'The Trustees met on the following occasions during the last year:

•31.03.21

•09.06.21 •22.09.21

Some matters regarding requests for financial support were discussed via email, all of which have been recorded, and subsequently minuted.

The matters covered in these meetings include:

-Financial reviews -Public Events -Future of the Charity

## **OBJECTS AND ACTIVITIES, ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE**

The Charity’s objects (“the Objects”) are:-

(1) To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the Statement of Beliefs appearing in the Schedule hereto in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Trustees may from time to time think fit;

(2) To further Christian and secular education for the public benefit in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Trustees may from time to time think fit;

(3) To relieve persons who are in conditions of need or hardship or who are aged or sick or disabled and to relieve the distress caused thereby in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the Trustees may from time to time think fit.

The Covid-19 pandemic continued to affect Uganda considerably. With no welfare system, people who couldn’t work couldn’t earn and there were severe food shortages. We were able to send enough money to feed 100 families for two months. We also received a request for financial help from a young lady who wished to set up a sewing school. We were able to pay for five sewing machines. We also helped to set up a poultry farm which will provide employment, and the profits will provide aid for widows. We paid school fees for David Opio’s last term, and university fees for Walter Olima (Busema University), Barbra Opio (Makerere University) and Obang Jimmy (Alpha and Omega Seminary in Jinja). Again their studies were interrupted by lockdowns. All finances sent to Uganda are overseen by our contact Milton Ogwal.

India was also badly affected by Covid-19 and they experienced a severe shortage of oxygen equipment. Through the generosity of our supporters we were able to send over £7000 to buy equipment and supplies.

We also continued to receive finances for Allan Smith’s work in Albania, and for his personal support. Allan works with several Albanian churches in Saranda, Tirana and Shkoder, and the financial support goes towards rent for church buildings and the relief of the poor, particularly those who are unable to work because of blood feud as they run the risk of being killed if they leave home. He works closely with Pastor Elona Prroj who runs the foundation ‘No to Blood Feud - Yes to Life’, an organisation she founded following the murder of her husband as the result of a blood feud.

A fourth Christmas event took place at Buckmore Park on December 12th. This year we were able to hold it in person but it was also streamed for those who still felt uncomfortable about being in large gatherings. The evangelist and comedian Mark Ritchie was our speaker again. We were able to reinstate the Carol Competition and four local primary schools performed on the night.

OneStream continues to operate under the auspices of Inn Christian Ministries. This is a facility which enables Christians to connect with each other in their neighbourhood through an on-line map. It is intended that it will:

- •help Christians to find out about and respond to local needs

- •make it easier to form local groups for Prayer, outreach or social events

- •encourage connection of believers from various fellowships or none.

We were also able to help a young lady, originally from Nigeria but who has lived in the UK since 2004. She had started a university course but then found that she was not eligible for a student loan because of the residency criteria – her family was only granted permanent residency in 2019. We paid her accommodation fees for the year.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT ON THE ACCOUNTS**

Report to the trustees/members of the Inn Christian Ministries CIO on the accounts for the year ended 28th February 2022 set out on pages 7 to 10.

## **RESPECTIVE RESPONSIBILITIES OF TRUSTEES AND EXAMINER**

The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144 (2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act)) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- [examine the accounts (under section 145 of the Act), ]

- to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145 (5) (b) of the Act), and

- [state whether particular matters have come to my attention. ]

## **BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMENT**

My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the organisation and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S STATEMENT**

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

- (1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:

   - [to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and ]

   - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act have not been met; or

- (2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
