## **PUBLIC BENEFIT STATEMENT, OBJECTIVES & ACTIVITIES**

In setting out the objectives and planning the activities, the Trustees have given careful consideration to complying with the duty in Section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have regard to the public benefit guidance published by the charity Commission,

All our project and services have continued to grow as well as some new benefitting the community.

In keeping with the objectives, we continue to develop our facilities for advancement of the religion of Islam, advancement of education for local community people.

The charity carried out wide range of activities in pursuance of its charitable objectives. The Trustees consider that these activities have benefitted the wider community of Northamptonshire.

The Centre main objective is to provide spiritual guidance for the Muslim community at large and wishes to cater for the social, cultural, and educational needs of the Muslims of Northamptonshire and thus engaged in education, welfare and other Islamic activities.

The other objective is to disseminate authentic knowledge about Islam from the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah and from the understanding of the pious predecessors and to provide for non-Muslims with a better and clearer understanding of Islam and strengthen Islamic unity and assist in the development of the Muslim community of Northamptonshire.

The mission of Northampton Mosque and Islamic Centre is to be highly regarded provider of resources to the children and families. We strive to support, educate, protect, and extend opportunities and services to those who may be vulnerable and undeserved.

## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCES**

Northampton Mosque and Islamic Centre continue to progress to deliver number of projected activities.

The Mosque is always open for all congregational prayers every day of the year. Unlike other Mosques around the area wo only open during prayer times, our Mosque is always open and this has facilitated a greater number of people turning up for prayers.

More people are attending our Mosque to perform the Friday prayers to the extend the space now is not enough as many worshippers have to pray outside on Fridays.

We manage to achieve the following:

- Ramadan Iftaar Program was yet again another outstanding program as huge number of Muslims attended again.

- Special Iftaar programs in the fasting month of Ramadan was held daily for many Muslim residents of Northampton who by one way or another are single or do not have a family gathered at the Mosque to break their fast. At the beginning it was a struggle to have volunteers willing to support the Project but as we moved along brothers and sisters came forward and supported the program.

- Our social media platforms have been very active in disseminating information and showcasing our activities especially NMIC app which has gained more people downloading the app to receive up to date information regarding various activities we are undertaking and knowing prayer’s times. NMIC app was also instrumental in fundraising as we have more than 5000 subscribers who downloaded the app.

- We manage to hold our third health awareness day Program in July 2024 where local Muslim Doctors gathered at the Mosque to provide Health check including Blood Pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, body weight and giving advice to medications. Many people attended Muslims and non Muslims as the event was open to all. A special talk was delivered about the process of the death on the day

- Eid in the Park, one of our annual events, was held successfully twice once in April and another in June at the Northampton Racecourse, over 1500 people attended both Eids though the weather was not that welcoming for the first Eid with the view of holding these events indoors as we are now getting in to winter season.

- The special congregational prayers during Ramadan – Taraawih was also attended very well and we used the occasion to have our young Imams leading the prayers.

- We managed to use our platform very well during Ramadan for fundraising for our building and the worshippers responded by donating towards our building project.

## **CHALLENGES**

Overall, 2024 was a year we started undergoing major refurbishment work towards our Mosque.

We managed to identify the builder and allocated the work which was to be completed in two years, and the building work will focus on erecting a new mezzanine floor, refurbishing the toilets improving the main hall area by removing some of the pillars to create more spaces for worshippers.

Also to improve the Mosque appearance by adding a Mihrab and professional sound system.

1 One of the major setbacks in 2024, we had to close our face-to-face Madrasah teaching to pave way for the building work. We have to move online for teaching our students. Online teaching is very challenging, and the student progress is very challenging.

Though used as an alternative, online settings are not the best in disseminating the knowledge but due to safety measures we had no option but to move classes online.

2 Some of our programs have to be put on hold like Mosque tours, Youth club and periodic talks and lectures due to safety measures until the building is complete.

This also have left us with serious implications in bringing youth to the vicinity of the Mosque and once turned away it becomes difficult bringing them again.

3 So many schools queried about Mosque tours and we were unable to confirm their bookings and we had to cancel the pre booked ones as well.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**

The income is generated from donations collected from Muslim people and Islamic organisations.

The incoming resources are detailed and explained upon in the financial statements. Signed on behalf of the trustees.
