Ely Village College holds a corporate membership with the club which
enables us to support oui College Rowing session givin9 Students access
to our sport through weekty rowing sessions.

Our worf( with Ety College (which began in 20181 continues and in 2023
we offered around 40 studènts the opportunity to row. and 32 students
continued rowing that year. Scrfne of these students entered head races
and regattas and row for the club.
We also ran taster ses￿rts during the Fabruary haw tèrm and thé Easter
holidays.16 students attendèd each taster sassion and the students were
from Littleport and East Cambs Academy Soham Village College. Neale-
Wade Academy and Ely College
We have also develoFed links wth East Anglia Youth Rowing an
organisation which has been selting up partnérships between clubs and
schools starting in the CambrTrdge area (ils aims are to reach further into
Suffolk & Norfolk).

We ran 2 leam to courses for adutts in 2023 and had 32 people
attend These courses are open and there are no restrictions lo
participation on these cwrses and they appeal to a wide range of people.
The people that attendèd ranged in ages of belween 23 and 57.
on￿ our leam to row courses are finished we get together with 2 other
local roy￿ng dubs arKI hokl a New to Rowing event . This is open to
anyon8 who has leamed to row that year, the events range from skills on
th8 water, side by side races arKI timed races and fancy-dress hats -
points given for all. These really are Iriendly events- our newest
m8mbers get to visit olher ¢lubs and row with people at the same stage
of their rowing experience.
Our club junior Se￿OnS take pla￿ on Sunday mornings. These arè
att8nded by children of all different backgrounds and sporting ability.
For regular members we hold timed rowing ses&ons on a monthly basis.
These are well attended not only for those who use it as a training tool lor
racing but tr￿e vtt￿ are wanting to challenge themselves to improve
each month. These sessions are in addition to the regular sessions
griing members as many ot4)ortunities as possible to enjoy their sport.
When organising any of the above events and also as part of our seNice
provided to established members the trustees {and the management
committee) gpie regard to the club's charitable purpose of providing our
services for the public benefit, a requirement which we believe we
continue to meel.

Our club is entirely volunteer led. This exlends to keeping the site tidy.
assisting with coached sessions, DIY jobs around the club, coaching,
launch driving. being a member of Ihe managem8nl comrniltee, being a
trustees. running coached s8ssions, we fundraise. we run open races for
the entire racing community, the lisl goes on, with far too many to
mention. Without the regular support of our members. we simply would
nol run.

Achievements and performance
The club continues lo grow and we have increased our membership by 9
members since 2022.
We conb'nue to offer rowing opportunilies to members whelher for
competitive rowing C￿ fitness an(Vsc¢ial benefits.
We have refurt)ished one of our quads and one double this year and also
bought new quad blades. We have obtained another launch which was
donated by Cambridge University Boat Club and was refurbished by our
members.
We have ordered 2 new Cadet boats for our juniors which should arrive
in 2024 and Y￿re partially grant funded.
We have continued our schools rowing sessions bringing rowing to
students from slate funded education which is such a rare opportunity in
the UK.
We have improved our site lacilities and iepaired our landing slage.
Two of our members have oblained launch driving qualifications and 5
rnembers completed their coaching assistant accreditation.
We have run two events- the head race and also marathon in 2023 .

The operational actrvities and fund raising generated a surplus of funds.
The club used those surpluses to invesl in developing the club. This
provided refurbishment of 2 boats as detailed above and repair of our
landing stage - all of which supported our aim to run more coached
sessions for dl members & the learn to row courses for members of our
community who have no prior experience of rowing.
The club di)es not rnake financial investments but does hold surplus cash
in a savings account with a Nationwide Building Society pending
purchase of physical assets for use by the club.

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Di￿tiOnS gvlen by the Charity
Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the club and a
comparison of the accounts presented with those iecords. It also includes consKleraiion of any
unusual items or disclosures in the actounts, and seeking explanations from the committee
concerning any such matter5. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that
would be required in an a￿ll. and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts
present a 'true and fairf view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the Statement
below.
Independent examiner's stalement
In connection with my examination. no matter has come to my attention
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material ￿$pert. the requirements:
to keep accountiTrg records in accordance with sectFon 130 of the Charities Art, and
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting record5 and compty with the
accountin8 requirements of the Charit*s Act have not been met. or
