WorleWind Band became a recognised charity on 10[th] August 2017. All policies and procedures are reviewed, updated where necessary and reapproved by the Trustees annually.
The COVID-19 pandemic policy was updated throughout the year in accordance with Government guidance, taking available advice from Public Health England, DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport), and our insurers; Making Music.
Aligned to the COVID-19 policy is a COVID-19 Risk Assessment which has been ratified and published on the Band’s website. Additionally, this has been seen as a best practice template and shared with other bands for their own assessments.
There were no significant updates to other existing policies in 2021.

Section D Achievements and performance
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year |
The start of 2021 saw lockdown of many in-person activities due to COVID-19 saw the cessation of activities, however the band remained resilient and even welcomed new players who joined in with the ongoing online collaborations and small group events undertaken in accordance with the Risk Assessment. In line with our Charitable Objects, and in addition to the ensemble work (recordings and on-line activities), the COVID-19 lockdowns also saw generous lending of personal instruments to people learning to play/improve. The experience has reinforced the need for continued outreach and engagement in music in the community. To this end, the band received a restricted donation of two clarinets which have already been used for public benefit. The lifting of restrictions in May enabled the band to rehearse again, initially in controlled groups of <30 and distanced in accordance with guidance and returning to full rehearsals in the second half of the year. We were able to put on full productions towards the end of the year including three festive celebrations to large audiences before the Omicron variant caused cancellations in the last week before Christmas. |

| Section E Financial review | |
| Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves Details of any funds materially in deficit Further financial review details Youmay chooseto include additional information, where relevant about: • the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising); • how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity; • investment policy and objectives including any ethical investment policy adopted. |
|
| The reserves policy for the band is nominally calculated as at least the previous year’s running costs plus three months of anticipated income. In any event the reserves must not be lower than £4k to cover any costs of dissolution. The reserves position remains healthy and above the minimum level in the policy. |
|
| None | |
| (Optional information) | |
| All revenue has supported the charitable objectives of the organisation with no-one receiving any form of remuneration. 2021 was heavily impacted by COVID-19 and again the trustees actively reduced outgoings as far as possible, to end the year marginally above break even. The reserves balance remains in accordance with the policy. |
