Trustees considered risks involving the security of fellows and payments made to them. Procedures were set up to use secure communication (Signal app), ensure anonymity and to provide guidelines for fellows to ensure their security. Payments were made directly where possible or through a known and trusted third party and verified with the receiving fellow.

The directors held monthly meetings with the donor Firetree Philanthropy, to share best practice and to ensure activities aligned with the terms of the donation.

In 2021 The Kite Tales Foundation decided to contribute to international understanding of Myanmar in the wake of the 2021 military coup by chronicling the experiences of ordinary citizens and show how the political upheaval was affecting marginalised communities and those with different cultural and social histories. The Kite Tales began work to raise funds in 2021 to support journalists who lost their jobs in the aftermath of the coup and received donations from two philanthropic foundations in 2022. This, in addition to money raised from the public through Go Fund Me, allowed us to set up a small stipend for ten storytellers - seven journalists and three illustrators - to produce monthly diaries. In doing so the trustees had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public Summary of the main activities benefit. undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this Fellows were selected from across Myanmar to highlight a diverse set section the statutory declaration that trustees have of voices and cultural backgrounds, in line with our mission statement. Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

In line with the educational and public benefit purposes of the Foundation set out in our governing document, we created a specific area of our bi- lingual website to publish these first person accounts (https://kite tales.org/en/article-category/resistance-diaries-life-after-myanmar-coup). Both our website and the our social media presence continue to grow, and The Kite Tales provided crucial, first-person accounts of what is happening in Myanmar, particularly as global attention shifted away from the country. The co-founders also spoke at multiple events and discussions on Myanmar.
