|Summary of the main<br>activities in relation to those<br>purposes for the public<br>benefit, in particular, the<br>activities, projects or<br>services identified in the<br>accounts.|Para 1.17 and<br>1.19|After navigating a difficult year due to the<br>coronavirus pandemic, The Kite Tales<br>Foundation, like many other organisations<br>working on Myanmar, had to confront a very<br>challenging period after the country’s military<br>forcibly took power in a coup on Feb 1, 2021.<br>This meant the co-founders had to again<br>suspend activities and planned trips.<br>As the situation in Myanmar worsened, with<br>large-scale protests followed by armed clashes<br>across vast swathes of the country, the co-<br>founders decided to contribute to the<br>international community’s understanding of<br>Myanmar by chronicling the experiences of<br>ordinary citizens taking part in the protests (or)<br>are affected by the coup.<br>In line with the educational and public benefit<br>purposes of the Foundation set out in our<br>governing document, we sought to highlight a<br>diverse set of voices and how the political<br>upheaval was affecting marginalised<br>communities and those with different cultural<br>and social histories.|

However, the co-<br>founders of The Kite Tales, particularly Thin<br>Lei Win, was interviewed by international<br>media and civil society groups to speak out<br>on Myanmar.<br>The personal, anonymous stories by<br>ordinary people, which we published in both<br>Burmese and English, were widely shared<br>across social media.<br>The co-founders were also invited by The<br>Organization of Asian American Sisters in<br>Service (OAASIS) and Students for<br>Myanmar, set by up Harvard University<br>Students, for a virtual discussion about<br>Myanmar and The Kite Tales on April 17,<br>2021.<br>Both our website and the our social media<br>presence continue to grow, and The Kite<br>Tales provided crucial, first-person accounts<br>of what is happening in Myanmar,<br>particularly after the global attention had<br>shifted away from the country.|
