As a non-profit maklng organisatlon, supported by volunteer members of the RAF Sport Aircraft Associatlon (RAFSAI, the maintènanc• and operating ¢OSts are kept to the very mlnlmum, thus maklng the actlvity of aerobatie flylng accessible to thosg who would otherwlse be unable to participate. P8ra 1.20 Aircraft Build: The Spirit of Ayre was bequeathed as a part-finished self-build projeeL Using tha skill sets of voluntoors drawn from the RAF Sport Aircraft Association {RAFSA) and external 'frlends ol the proj•ct', significant progress wa5 made to complete the aircraft in Fob 2020. A pemiit to fly was subsequently granted by the Light Aircraft Association (LAA). However. th¢ Covld 19 p•nd¢mlG and national lockdown moant that test flying activity was delayed. The CAA kindly granted the Charity an exemption from national flying restrictions, allowing the first flight to be undertaken from RAF Waddington on 7 May 2020. Tho aircraft flew beautifully and the full test Schedule achleved wlthln 6 weeks, SourGin and Raisin Finance: Completing the build and achieving flrst htde letèd the Chari 's limited
funds. Further, a Contributor wlthdrew their pledge of a monthly donation as the finan¢ial climate of Covld 19 was not conduclve to such pledges. Given the lack of funds, the rostrictions on flying and the requlrement to remain Covid- secure, the Trustees agreed not to undertake further activities; the aircraft was hangered at RAF Waddington w6th minimal maintenance work efforts scheduled as and Wh allowod. Promotlon & En emont: The profile of the Spirit of Ayre organisation continued to be raised through the publication of storyboards, brochur•s, reports and the RAFSA website. Flnancial Review Review of the charity's financial position at the end of the period Para 1.21 At the end of the period, the Charlty had recorded a not loss of £1470. The Ilmlted funds had been depleted in the final drive to comploto tho aircraft build.
