Second Annual event delivered.**<br>**Volunteer on a monthly basis to support**<br>**delivery of Lewisham Hospital Early**<br>**Pregnancy Evenings. Entered into**<br>**collaboration with Royal College of**<br>**Midwives to highlight unsung heroes on**<br>**the maternity frontline**<br>Pursuant to our charitable objective to<br>relieve sickness and prevention of good<br>health through medical research into infant<br>and childhood illness, the charity continued<br>to deliver and expand its BAME Maternity<br>programme. This initiative highlights<br>maternity issues facing diverse communities<br>with programming led by Helen Knower,<br>Director of Midwifery, Lewisham and<br>Greenwich NHS Trust. It delivered a number<br>of well-received webinars. Work continued<br>on development of an online academy,<br>which has had to be re-started from scratch,<br>with an entirely new team, after the original<br>site was hacked and compromised. Late<br>payments relating to the second annual<br>online conference were recovered. Time on<br>a monthly basis is also given to support<br>delivery of monthly online early pregnancy<br>evenings.  This work promotes shared<br>learning and best practice and reaches an<br>audience spanning midwifery, the wider<br>medical profession, Maternity Voice<br>Partnerships, policy makers, social workers,<br>charities and, crucially, a diverse range of<br>communities from within the Boroughs of<br>Lewisham and Bromley and far beyond. The<br>charity was invited by the Royal College of<br>Midwives to join the judging panel for two<br>Race Matters Unsung Hero Awards, which<br>honour and celebrate extraordinary<br>individuals from diverse and vulnerable<br>communities that work in the field of<br>maternal health. Candidates include – but<br>are not limited to – midwives, student<br>midwives, maternity support workers and<br>higher education institution staff. These<br>individuals often go above and beyond the<br>call of duty and deserve recognition for their<br>hard work and dedication. These awards<br>ultimately recognise exemplary service<br>delivery, education that promotes<br>collaborative and culturally sensitive working|





that results in higher standards of care for all service users throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. **Book readings/supporting literacy and creative writing in for school pupils in Lewisham** Continued book readings promoting good citizenship, identity and social cohesion. We were invited by a Lewisham based community centre to deliver a creative writing workshop for local school children **Grant making activities** Grants were made in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital. **Overseas and other Epic Adventure Fundraising Programmes developed** We announced our first overseas Epic Adventure to Albania and fielded strong interest. However, COVID and apprehension travelling post COVID meant that the trip had to be deferred. We also worked with a volunteer to develop an Epic Adventure to the west coast of Scotland and completed a dry run in preparation for launching. Other ideas continue to be incubated and there is optimism that as the world comes out of COVID they will come to fruition. **Resumption of Supper Clubs** Following a lengthy COVID-induced hiatus the period saw us hold a sold out vegetarian gourmet supper club in partnership with a former Great British Bakeoff winner. **Annual Golf Day launched** In anticipation of a post-COVID world – and the fact golf is one of the few COVID friendly activities – the charity launched an annual golf day to take place June 2023. Advanced sales during the reporting period were steady and augur well for the event.

|Achievements against<br>objectives set|Para 1.41|**We are proud of what we have**<br>**achieved this year:**<br>We are proud of our continued response to<br>the COVID pandemic and that we not only<br>sustained in the face of unprecedented<br>COVID challenges but sought to extend our<br>reach, notably through the partnership with<br>the Royal College of Midwives and our<br>continued participation in communal<br>activities such as Lewisham Hospital’s<br>Online Early Pregnancy Evenings as well<br>as deliver of a creative writing workshop for<br>young people in Lewisham. We continued<br>to innovate, prime example being the work<br>on the online academy and epic<br>adventures.<br>We are proud to have been able to offer<br>volunteering opportunities with the<br>Foundation. The volunteers made<br>outstanding contributions and have given<br>favourable reviews of their experience,<br>including citing it as invaluable in taking<br>their next professional step.<br>We have shown tremendous resilience<br>against the backdrop of severely impacted<br>annual revenues. Uptake of the March<br>Supper Club as well as pre-sales for the<br>newly launched Annual Golf Day augur<br>well for the future.|

Offsetting this has been our<br>continued work to develop online offerings,<br>collaboration with the Royal College of<br>Midwives and sales of our books and<br>determination to continue to innovate<br>when it comes to fundraising initiatives<br>and charitable giving in line with our<br>objects. As a charity  we are not reliant on<br>any one big event and have diversified<br>streams of income.
