## Annual report for 2021 — 2022 Charity Number 1174155

;

Summary: This has been a challenging year but helpful advice and financial support from the Government has brought the Village Hall through the pandemic, and we were able to resume some activities in line with Government guidance in April 2021. Most of our users had returned to the Hall by the end ofSeptember 2021 and the second half of the year was ‘business as usual’. The financial position is good, but we face significant challenges in meeting rising costs especially for utilities; a review of our charging regime is inevitable during the year ahead.

With this in mind we installed LED strip lighting in the main hall. Another expense was the maintenance and wood worm removal from the wood floor in the original hall.

The original hall was built in the 1960s and we are aware that in the future, the building itself, will need more maintenance. So it was aggreged that there should be a large proportion of our saving kept for future repairs. These are invested in Bonds.

A survey was undertaken of the people of the dale, to see if there is a need for our community field to have more play equipment. The results found there is a need for some swings, climbing frame etc but also a quiet garden area with seating. With this in mine we have applied for grants from The National Lottery and obtained planning permission.

The Trustees remain committed to supporting the Charity Commission’s desire to encourage people under the age of 25 to become more involved in the governance of charities, large and small. We remain keen to recruit at least one Young Trustee and seek additional volunteers to support the work.

We are pleased to say that our hall has been able to run extra classes for two ladies why they undertake Yoga training.

The year ahead looks promising with the WI are holding more community functions, for all ages and needs. Hopefully the Rural Arts Panto mine will go ahead as usual.
