Achievements and Performance
SORP reference
The Charity has 110 FulllAssociate
members registered at the end of the year.
This number is expected to continue to
increase in 2025126 in line with the ongoing
training courses. A new category of
Supporter Membership was introduced in
2024. There are a number viable colonies
on the apiary owned by the CIO, which are
used for training, and nearly 50 Member
managed hives. The training emphasis is
on "hands-on" experien￿ compared with
attendance in the classroom and the
program had 16 students attending during
the Financial Year. In 2023124 the Charity
made grants available to 19 schools with
equipment to establish hives. and made a
further 20 grants in 2024125. It expects to
make more grants in 2025126 depending on
available funding. Over the last two years
the Charity has made grants to schools
under the B4S scheme totalling just over
£37.000. The BeeBombs4schools (BB4S)
educational packs, which are separate from
the B4S scheme. are proving to be a
Suc￿sS and the Charity partnered with the
support of a major retail promotion during
the year. There are plans ongoing to
update and improve the Website, aimed at
improving the operational pro￿sseS but
also to upgrade in line with current IT
soflware develo
ments.

Financial Review

Income from activities reduced from
£61,195 in 2023124 down to £46,358
largely as a result of the one off nature of
large Corporate sponsorships. Donations in
aggregate from both Corporate and the
public increased by 500/0 to £12,959, The
Charity generated a surplus of £4,148
during the year increasing the Reserves
£47.407, which are very liquid. The Charity
is in a sound financial position and, for the
last two years, has funded it's Charitable
donations to schools from Sponsorships
and Donations during the respective years.
In the event of reduced Charitable income
which is forecast in the current year the
Charity may need to look to its Charitable
reserves to fund their
ram.
The Charity's objective is to hold sufficient
reserves to fund the Charitable Activities
planned for the nexl two financial years,
together with a reserve sufficient to cover
the costs of winding down the Charity,

## **Report of the Trustees of The British Bee Charity CIO  for the period ended 31st March 2025** 

The Charity has 110 full members registered at the end of the year, and have introduced a new category  of Supporter Membership. We expect this number to continue to increase in 2025/26 in line with the ongoing training courses. The training emphasis is on "hands-on" experience compared with attendance in the classroom. There are 5 viable colonies on the apiary owned by the CIO, which are used for training, and 42 Member managed hives. In 2023/24 we made grants available to 19 schools with equipment to establish hives, and made a further 20 grants in 2024/25. We expect to make more grants in 2025/26 depending on funding. 

The BeeBombs4schools educational packs are proving a huge success and we partnered with the support of a major supermarket this year. We plan to extend this program further in 2025/26. These are free and are distributed to schools around the UK We plan to update the Website due to operational issues with the current system and ongoing IT development. The CIO is looking forward to a successful 2025/26 and beyond.

## _**Notes to the financial statements:**_ 

1. The accounts have been prepared on the basis of historic cost and Financial Reporting Standards for Smaller Enterprises and with the Charities Act. 

2. Income is recognised once the charity becomes entitled to the resources. 

3. Liabilities are recognised as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to pay out of resources. 

4. Assets are capitalised if they can be used for more than two years. Depreciation has been provided so as to write assets off over two years 

5. The Trustees have claimed minimal out of pocket expenses, claims relate to travel for collection of stock for sale and equipment for the apiary. 

6. Membership subscriptions are included on payment.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the British Bee Charity for the year ended 31 March 2025. 

## **Responsibilities and basis of report** 

As the charity trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner’s statement** 

I have completed my examination. 

I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or 

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 

3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
