Summary
ofthe main
achievements
ofthe charity
during the year
Hampshire
Search and Rescue (HANTSAR) were called out on 83
occasions
in 2022 providing
almost 15,668 hours gross volunteer
time.
This includes
live searches, training,
fundraising
and management
tasks.
HANTSAR provided a comprehensive
training
programme
throughout
2022 for Trainees and Qualified Search Technicians,
ensuring
that our
volunteers
appropriately
trained to continue to provide a professional
search and rescue service throughout
Hampshire.
The level oftraining,
combined
with the dedication
ofmembers,
has
enabled
HANTSAR to assist Hampshire
Constabulary
in searching
for
vulnerable
persons
by having that expertise on scene quickly. The
speedy increase
in the search response and capability
has been of
benefit to not only the missing
person but also their families and friends
who are reassured
that everything
is being done to find their loved ones
as soon as possible.
To promote
public awareness
the Charity
provided
displays at local
events.
It has assisted
in the administration
of public events
by providing
marshals
at carnivals
and races.
With a concern for the welfare ofthe elderly contact continues
with GP
surgeries, care homes, the area Alzheimer's
Society and other dementia
groups to emphasize
measures
that carers can take which would assist
police and search teams ifa vulnerable
person went missing. Talks were
also given to a variety ofcommunity
groups throughout
the year to
continue to promote and raise awareness
of HANTSAR and the issues of
vulnerable
missing persons
in Hampshire.
During 2022 Hantsar was selected by Hampshire
County Council to run
the "Spontaneous
Volunteer
Reception Centres" in the event ofa major
incident
in the county, this service is provided
freely to the county.
