Trustee’s Annual Report for Cynfran Pre-school for 2022-2023 Registered charity number: 1174061

September 13th 2021 Cynfran Pre-school opened a new purpose built pre-school Cynfran Preschool is a registered Charity and became a CIO in 2017.

We are inspected by Estyn and CIW. We are based in Llysfaen, a semi-rural village and set within the grounds of Ysgol Cynfran.

We opened our purpose built pre-school building 13th September 2021 we have our own secure grounds and outside space. We employ 3 full-time staff.

We are able to take up to 19 children per session, with the capacity to increase this to 35. Preschool is open from 09:00 am to 3:00pm with sessions split into am, pm or full day sessions (term me only) We have excellent links with Ysgol Cynfran and some of the nursery aged children use wraparound care between the two settings. The children have the option of a hot school dinner or a packed lunch from home We are members of and supported by EYW. We work closely with all other agencies to give the children attending our setting the best possible start. Summer 2023 we were runner up Early years Wales big and bold outside area.

Our Aims

We aim to provide pre-school early years education for children aged 2 to 4 years of age. We aim to promote the academic, moral, social and physical development within an education setting which prepares young children for their entry into Nursery and later full-me education.

Our Objectives

The objectives of the Preschool are the advancement of education including physical and social education.

-Start to follow and implement the new curriculum for Wales-Enhance and develop pre-school provision.

-Continue to support the children’s education through the application of grants.

-Maintain close links with the school.

General information on Main Activities

The children engage in activities which encourage ‘learning through play’. A thematic approach is offered and includes a varied programme of activities which encourage academic, social and physical development at an age and stage appropriate level. The children have access to age appropriate toys and activities which aim to develop skills, including gross and fine motor control. The Pre-school promote health education, encouraging general hygiene routines such as hand washing and cleaning teeth. Healthy snacks are offered. We are members of design to smile and have completed all modules for the Health pre-school.

Public Benefit

The Pre-school aim to fulfil its charitable purpose which is the Advancement of Education. -The children have access to quality education experiences which help in their global development and prepare them for their journey in to full me education in a school sending.

-Ysgol Cynfran benefits from the Pre-school as most of the children attending will eventually go on to attend this school.

-We provide employment for four people locally.-Parents of children who attend our Preschool have the opportunity to work themselves as they can use us as a child care facility especially as we link in with the Nursery session in the afternoon and can offer full day care.

-The Preschool have children attending who are part of the ‘Flying Start’ programme. We have children whose parents have been able to take advantage of the 30 hour childcare offer. In addition we offer the 10 hour funded education on and offer tax free child care

Fundraising

Helping hands donations has started again, helping hands is a donation made by parents for example, washing up liquid, hand wash, toilet roll. We have also held a raffle.

Grants

This year we have received numerous grants which have enabled us to buy indoor/ outside equipment.

Staff

We currently employ four members of staff, 3 full-time. Two staff are qualified to Level 4/5 and one is qualified to Level 3 in Childcare working towards level 4. All staff are up to date with mandatory training including first aid.

Committee and Trustees

We are in the process of looking for new committee members and trustees, 1 committee member resigned last term due to other commitments.
