Trustees Report for the Year Ended 31 Juty 2025

1. Actlvltles and Impact
Introductlon
The Markeiing Academy Foundation exists to enable career starts in the marketin8 industries for young
people la8ed from 18 to 301 from d158dv￿tsged ba¢kgrouDds.
The tnarketing industry offersa Tang¢ of inleresting jobs and provides people with satisfying. long-ierni careers.
Bui di¢ liidystsy does iiot r¢fl¢it btvddrE 5v¥i¥ly iti (lir iijdkruy uf lib viuikfvrir.
Since 2001 the Advcni51TL8 Association. in parn¢r5hip with the IPA (the irdde body representing Creative and
media agencies) and ISBA (the trade body represeniinA advertisers) have conducted a UK wde survey amonA
people wot*ing in advertising and m£rkeiin&. The All In surv¢y measures the demogrdphic profile of the
workforcc.
Th¢ 2025 $tsrvey mgals that only IV/• of the rnarkcting and advcrtising workf¢)rce come from a workiftg-¢l&%s
backgmund. despite being A￿/¢ of the population. This finding is reinforced by the finding that 180/0 of the peopl¢
workin8 in the industy went to fee paying privale s¢h(Kils which is double the incidence in the population.
Sadly. th¢ perttnlages cited above have remained constant since the sur¥ey launched tn 2021.
And the problem isn't confined io working class people being under-represented. Th¢re is a persistenl clas5-bas¢d
pay gap. A Marketing Week Survey. eonducted in lat¢ 2024 and publLsh¢d it5 March 2V25. showed that marketers
from working-class back2rounds are beirt2 paid on average 15.30/0 les5 than their middle- and upper-class peers.
This pay 8ap h&$ remained at this level for several years.
The marketing indusuy has been the preserve of the middle ¢lasscs for too long. and it is not changing fast
enough. The Marketing A¢ad¢my Foundattron is dedi¢*ed io helping talenied. bright young p¢opl¢ from
rnore poorly resourced backgrounds gain that first vital job opportunity in the industry znd thrive thereafter.
Historieally. we have done this by securit]g a limited number of salari¢d marketingroles at leadin8 companies
for youjig p¢opl¢ froni low-iJi¥oiii¢ barkgrowjds.
