The children's opera is organised with the local Cross Ash Junior School. The children are engaged in all aspects of presentation from set design, stage management and promotion to performing with professional artists. In 2017 the children also wrote the music and libretto for their opera production 'The Ogre of Abergavenny', in 2018 they followed this with a sequel – ‘The Ogre of Abergavenny II’ and in 2019 they completed the project with ‘Ogre of Abergavenny III’. In 2022 the children performed alongside professionals for a performance of Offenbach’s “Helen of Troy”. Similar projects will be arranged in future years. We also have occasional events where we give young local artists the opportunity to perform before an audience. The festival usually takes place in the month of June. ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about: - policy on grantmaking; - policy programme related investment; - contribution made by volunteers. **TAR** March **2012** 3 Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main** Following three months of workshops, in December 2022 the Festival **achievements of the charity** organised three performances of Humperdinck’s opera “Hansel and **during the year** Gretel” in Newport.
