## **NORTH MANCHESTER COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS ANNUAL REPORT FOR 23/24**

Started another milestone year in our history, still reeling by the news from the National Lottery that we have got through to the second round of Reaching Communities Fund, along with being affiliated with We Stand Together and invited to their annual awards ceremony.

Continued our collaborations with Wai Yin - delivering some work with our BNO Hong Kong community funded by North West Regional Strategic Migration Partnership (RSMP)

Work started at the Woodville Family Hub- transforming an unused area and creating a Sensory Garden for all to use, along with further delivery of digital skills and NHS app promotion.

Our team continued working to “Fix the Digital Divide” and played their part in Manchester being crowned The Uk’s most Digitally Inclusive City.

Successful with NHS CDC Funding, and we welcomed Marysia joining our team to help with coordinating and delivery of this vital piece of work for the North of Manchester

## KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

**Reaching Communities Grant**

_**2023 - 2024 has been a year of resilience and innovation for North Manchester Community Partnership. Despite the challenges presented by the Cost-of Living crisis, we have stayed focused on our mission and continued to expand our reach.**_

_**We successfully generated just over £184,000 of income throughout the reporting year, this again, came from a diverse range of funders to cover a whole host of activities and services.**_

The new financial year started the week after receiving the news we got through to the second stage, John spent the next 4 months finalising the proposal and working closely with the National lottery. In late September we got the call saying our ACED-IT proposal for Moston had been successful. Agreed 4 Year Proposal to begin January 2024

## **Good Things Foundation**

Ambassador work continued with an extension in February to carry on till June 2024. HMRC grant we exceeded our targets and invited to submit a 3-year grant proposal. Learn my Way – we continued to deliver digital skills sessions across North Manchester

## **Digital Health Hubs**

The collaboration between NHS, MCC and NMCP led to recognition in the House of Lords, with the NHS producing a case study and report on the effectiveness of working together to support the most excluded in our communities

## **Simpson Memorial Hall – Hosted Diverse-City**

1 of 4 events in June /July- huge collaboration of VCSE and Statutory groups made this a success. Reaching Communities work started in January to deliver ACED-IT, providing Advice & guidance, Cohesion events, Education & Employment and Digital skills and support

Lots of local residents attended and we partnered with Wai Yin to launch both our Community Cohesion initiative along with We Stand Together 9

- KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

**DIVERSE CITY EVENT SIMPSON MEMORIAL HALL**

As more and more services move towards digital, we risk leaving those that are less digitally connected behind. In North Manchester, we recognized this and NMCP collaborated to work together to support those who may struggle to connect digitally.

The partnership is made up of the Cheetham Hill Primary Care Network, North Manchester Community Partnership, Manchester City Council, MCC Housing, the MLCO and NHS GM Manchester Locality Digital Facilitation Team all working out of community venues to connect with our local people. The sessions have a great success in terms of services working collaboratively and engaging local people and improving digital literacy and resources in one of our most diverse communities

Looking ahead, we are excited to deliver ACED-IT in Moston, collaborate with Manchester City Council’s work on “Strengthening Communities” developing the Simpson Memorial Hall to become a vibrant hub for the community, and continue our advocacy work.

We remain committed to making lasting change in the communities we serve, and with your continued support, we will achieve even more in the year to come.

As the end of this report approached,

- We were successful with a 2-year grant from MCC work & Skills

- Getting ready for the upcoming EVISA - transition

- Notification from Good Things Foundation we had secured 3 years HMRC grant funding

- Awarded Funding from WEA/GMCA Community Grants Strand 1 to deliver support with Wai Yin as partners

The next year will continue to be full of many challenges – with the Cost-ofLiving Crisis still affecting many of the families we support.

## **WHERE TO FIND US AND HOW TO CONTACT US:**

Main aims & objectives are to support the people of North Manchester to engage more fully socially, economically and to tackle some of the health and general inequalities that exist. Working with our communities to find solutions to local poverty - mainly through Digital, developing new skills to gain employment or access further training opportunities.

Working from the Welcome Centre and Simpson Memorial Hall along with outreach sessions, offering work club activities, benefits advice service, digital skills training, accredited online training, volunteering opportunities and confidence building with access to community led events and activities i.e. Arts & Crafts, befriending, gardening, self-help groups and ESOL. We champion Community Cohesion at every level.

Our work started in April 2011 in response to the funding cuts in Manchester that had massive impacts on the workless communities. In 2013 set up North Manchester Work Clubs as a Community Organisation. We transitioned to a charity back in 2017 and broadened our name to North Manchester Community Partnership. In 2018 we moved our office from Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project to the Welcome Centre in Cheetham Hill and in 2020 through covid we also set up a more permanent residence at the Simpson Memorial Hall in Moston.

We have held accreditation with Open Awards since 2018, we are a Level 2 Disability Confident Employer, Mental health at work committed, first gained accreditation as Living Wage Employer back in 2020, on top of this the Charity and John (manager) have achieved OISC Level 1 regulated approval (March 2023) and are also in the process of working towards Cyber Essentials accreditation. With further development planned in gaining Matrix approval.
