Chairman's Report for October 20231 October 2024
Events
Another busy year for us at the Canolfan starting in October with Night Out via Arts Council of Wales
Milly Jackdaw
Story Telling.
We held a quiz night in November and in December there was a willow workshop. We also held our
annual c.hristmas concert in December with many taking part with poems, readings and various
items, and community Carol singing with mulled wine and mince pies. Father Christmas joined us
and gave a present to all children who attended. Donations for the evening went to Pembrokeshire
Association for the Homeless.
We held a Bingo session in January to raise money towards the cost of our annual Eisteddfod and
Barclays Bank kindly match funded this.
Our annual Eisteddfod was held in February this yearly tradition is so important for the community
and local schools are well represented.
In May there was a Herb workshop, and also a week long Art exhibition by local artists with a
volunteer run cafe with over 16 volunteers !
A pollinator party was held in June which was very well attended again with a volunteer run cafe, this
was partly.supported by Cwm Arian and Eglwyswrw Community Council.
In July our Trasure Hunt took place and the finishing line was Llwyngwair Manor where bar meals
were provided for those who requested them.
In August our Horticultural Show took place which again was well attended.
And in September the first of a monthly cafe run by volunteers to help fund towards garden
expenses.

We receive donations via Local Giving and also have a 100 Club Lottery which is very important and
has been going for many years.

We also hold Management Group meetings every 4 weeks
Trustees meeting 6-8 weeks
We are able to employ co-ordinator for 8 hours per week to take bookings, produce invoices, create
posters, post on social media and keep the community informed of events via e- mail.

We have held community meals every fortnight between November 2023 and March 2024 the
attendance has varied between 20 - 35 people.
There is a Welsh learners class held during term time with at least 12 attending weekly.
We also had Hedd Ladd Lewis holding History of Wales courses every fortnight between February
and April 2024.
And there is a Biodiversity group that meet occasionally.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all fellow Trustees, Management group and all the
faithful volunteers that make the running of this Canolfan possible.
It was another busy year in the Community Garden. In November in poUri￿g rain we
officially dedicated the Peace Flame. We held a couple of well attended Work Days to ready
the Garden for community events which included another popular & profitable Pollinator
Party & Cafe in June. In July, after much discussiorL we acknowled2ed that the garden was
established and now required regular maintenance skills. We proposed to the Canolfan
Mana%ement Group that we should employ a professional gardener for a few hours each
month and that we would fund this development by running a Friday Cafe once a month. We
held the first cafe in September and the gardener Dave Cook did his first half day of work i
the Garden. We will be monitoring how this goes. We'd like to thank the Canolfan and the
community for their ongoing supporL

Bu'n flwyddyn brysur arall i ni yn y Ganolfan. gan ddechrau ym mis Hydref gyda Night Out
trwy Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru

Cynhaliwyd cwis ym mis Tachwedd ac ym mis Rhagfyr cafwyd gweithdy helyg. Cynhaliwyd
hefyd gyngerdd Nadolig blynyddol ym mis Rhagfyr gyda Ilawer yn cymryd rhan trwy
ddarllen cerddi, adrodd, a chyfiwyno eitemau amrywiol, a chanu Carolau gyda'r gymuned
ynghyd a gwin cynnes a mins peis. Ymunodd Sion Corn a ni a rhoddodd anrheg i'r holl blant
a fynycbodd. Aeth y rhoddion ar gyfer y noson at Gymdeithas Sir Benfro dros y Digartref.
Cynhaliwyd sesiwn Bingo ym mis Ionawr i godi aTian tuag at gost ein Eisteddfod flynyddol a
derbynwyd arian cyfatebol gan Fanc Barclays.
Cynhaliwyd ein Eisteddfod flynyddol ym mis Chwefror. Mae'r traddodiad hwn mor bwysig
i'r gymuned ac mae ysgolion Ileol yn rhan anatod ohono.
Ym mis Mai cafwyd gweithdy Perlysiau, ac arddangosfa Celf wythnos o hyd gan artistiaid
lleol gyda chaffi gwirfoddol gydag dros 16 0 wirfoddolwyr yn rhoi cymortlL N
Cafwyd parti peillwyr ym mis Mehefin a fynychwyd yn dda unwaith eto gyda chaffi
gwirfoddol. a gafodd gefnogaeth hefyd gan Cwm Arian a Chyngor Cymuned Eglwyswrw.
Ym mis Gorffennaf cynha]iwyd ein helfa drysor ac oedd yn cwpla ym Maenordy Llwyngwair
lle darparwyd prydau ir rhai oedd yn archeb￿.
Ym mis Awst cynhaliwyd ein Sioe Arddwriaethol a fynychwyd yn dda unwaith eto.
Ym mis Medi dechreuodd caffi misoI a redir gan wirfoddolwyr i helpu i ariannu costau'r
ardd.

The Trustees would like to thank the volunteers who help to make the hall such a welcoming and
thriving environment for the community.
Financial Artivities and Affairs
The Trustees are satisfied with the Financial Results for the period 01 November to 31 October
2024. A deficit of £13,686 was shown for the year.
Annual expenditure had remained undercontrol and it is proposed to keep costs to a minimum for
the immediate future.

TRUSTEES. RESPONSIBIUTY FOR THE ACCOUNTS
Charity Law requires the trustees to prepare financial accounts for each financial
year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of its
incoming resources and application of resources for that period. In preparing
those financial accounts the trustees are required to-
select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently;
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent:
prepare the financial accounts on the going concern basis unless it is
inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation;
to value assets and liabilitie5 in accordance with the Statement of
Recommended Practice Accounting by Charities.
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which are
sufficient to show and explain the charl￿S transactions and to disclose with
reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Society, and to
enable them to ensure that any statements of account comply with the
requirements of the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for
safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for
the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF
CANOLFAN LLWYNIHIRION BRYNBERIAN
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Canolfan Llwynihirion Brynberian
for the period 01 November 2023 to 31 October 2024.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in
accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'the Act,).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trusys accounts carried out under section 145 of the
2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by
the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(bl of the Act.
Independent examinerfs ststement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:_
l. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records," or
3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of
accounts set out in the Charities {Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any
requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair Vie￿ which is not a matter considered as part of
an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to
which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the
accounts to be reached.

Basis of A¢countin& These Accounts have been prepared on the basis of historic costs in
accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities- Ststement of Recommended
Practice ISORPI, with Accounting Standards and wrth the Charities Art 2011.
Income. Donations are accounted for when recetved by the Society. Other Income is
accounted for on an accrual ba515 as far as it is pnjdent to do so.
Gffts in Kind. The Chartty receives the benefrt of work carried out by volunteers, and
receives the use of some facilities and equipment without charge. No value is placed on
these items. Where the benefft extends over several periods. in which case they are
valued and included in the Balance Sheet at a reasonable valuation.
Depreciation of tangible assets is provided at the following annual rates in order to write
off each asset over its estimated useful life.
