Canolfan Llwynihirion Brynberian

Annual Report 2022 – 2023 by Chair - Lon Davies

The Canolfan is going from strength to strength, we are very lucky to live in a community which is very supportive.

We have held many different projects and celebrations this year, one of the highlights was a school reunion for past pupils over 90 attended, many had not seen the school since it had been renovated and were very impressed with all the improvements, and are pleased that the Canolfan is used regularly, and an important part of the community.

We have been very fortunate in keeping our co-Ordinator Sophie Jenkins for so long but unfortunately the lottery funding came to an end in October, we are very grateful to Sophie for all the hard work that she has done to help us over the past 3 years. However, she has agreed to continue to help by sorting the bookings and some paperwork out for us. Diolch Sophie!

The hall has also been hired out to Pembrokeshire National Parks, PCC Education Department and the NHS to name a few.

The community Carol service this year was very well attended, with many taking part with various readings and items, mince pies and mulled wine were an added bonus.

We held a Bingo session in January to raise money for the Eisteddfod this was well attended.

Our annual Eisteddfod was in February with local children and schools taking part, a very important cultural event in our calendar.

We held an art exhibition / cafe in may which was very popular tea, coffee and cake were provided by volunteers.

A pollinator party was well attended in June and quite a few plants and flowers were purchased, and the food provided was very popular too.

The annual Treasure Hunt took place in July with 23 cars attending and food was provided in Llwyngwair at the end.

Our Horticultural show was in August and very well attended, people were grateful that things were getting back to some normality after covid.

A very big thank you to all who have helped this year to make all of the above possible, where would we be without our faithful gang of volunteers. Diolch Yn Fawr !
