This is purely a joining of hearts and minds as opposed to a structural union, the FIEC does not own any of the church’s property and neither does it require a membership fee. The church shares the same theological perspective and annually affirms its agreement with the articles of faith. - relationship with any related parties; - trustees’ consideration of major risks and the system and procedures to manage them. ## **Section C Objectives and activities** **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** The objective of the charity is for public benefit, the advancement of the Christian faith, in accordance with the Statement of Faith. March **2012** **TAR** 2 The main activities fall under the stated objective of advancing the Christian Faith. March **2012** **TAR** 3 Section D Achievements and performance ## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** In many ways, the past year has continued along the same path as the year past — with one notable exception as will be outlined below. Whilst the national lockdown ended in 2021, the church’s usual meeting venue, a school, has not yet allowed the church to worship as before. As a consequent, meetings have continued on Zoom. For a short while, the church did meet at a community centre but then the rise of Omicron made it too risky. As a result, we continue to worship and interact on the internet. This was a shame but the membership felt that the risks were too great. Having said that, the past year has been a very positive experience in terms of carrying out our mandate. Fellowship Baptist Church exists to proclaim the Christian faith and that has continued in a variety of ways: - On Sunday mornings, the church worships via Zoom. It is a small group and sadly no more congregational singing is going on but the membership are faithful and appreciate the time. - In the afternoon, the pastor continues to make use of Facebook Live to do sermons for the public. This has had increasing responses with some sermons attaining over 400 people who watched the entire sermon. And happily, not all of the listeners are Christians. Some are of other faiths and some of no faith at all. We welcome this as part of our ongoing mission to proclaim the Christian faith. - In the week, prayer meetings take place as people are available. Again, this is not a large number but no less enthusiastic about prayer. - Finally, the ladies group, called Servants Hearts, has continue to meet on a monthly basis. Even though the original leader has moved with her family, she continues to work with the group and help to plan meetings. Indeed, there have been some meetings that included women from other churches not in Luton. - Much good has been achieved in the lives of people in the church and in the community. In the autumn, the church provided another food delivery for Keech Hospice. This is a very effective service to the community or those in need of care and the church values its efforts to help. Within the church, a family’s husband was gravely ill and eventually passed away. Initially, the congregation prayed and offered a gift of #1,000 to help with housing needs. Once the man had passed, another gift of #1,000 was offered to help with funeral expenses. These gifts are examples of the generosity and philanthropic spirit of the congregation. It is hoped that this can continue once the church starts to rent premises again. Indeed, at the AGM a more proactive campaign of charity will be discussed. - It is a welcome achievement to get the long awaited website on line. This was a long process and the pastor, who was doing the March **2012** **TAR** 4 ## erformance p work, has now got a new appreciation for those who create websites! Happily, there has been some good feedback and it is hoped that the final product will be a good tool for reaching the public. With all the above, there are a few negatives that must be noted. - In August, a family moved from Luton. They are no longer part of the local congregation but continue to keep in touch via Zoom and other platforms. Indeed, the wife in the family has carried on with managing the ladies group called Servants Hearts. Even so, they will be missed when the church starts to meet in public. - The children’s work has stopped because younger ones are not the best on Zoom. Having said that. the Friday night Zoom youth meeting continues with great enthusiasm. - As mentioned above, one of our members passed away and this man was a trustee for the charity. This latter point will be addressed in due course. March **2012** **TAR** 5 ## **Section E Financial review** The trustees and the membership have considered the need for a **Brief statement of the** reserves policy and it has been agreed that no set amount is needed but **charity’s policy on reserves** that the charity will always agree to meet its financial obligations.
