The Win*r Organ School. held from Monday 24th to Wedne&lay 26th Febrnary in and around Lyme R¢gi% 8ave us an excellent start to the year's activities. The theme, J.S. Bach.. Precursors andJnfluences. allow￿ us to journey into the rich soil from svhich Bach's genius sprdng. Under the expert leadership of Dr Richth G(xlfrey and Peter I￿(0x-whOM we thank most warnily for their vision and organisation-we explored music that sh4th Bach's imagination. They were joined by Andrew millingto￿ Pe￿ Parshall, and lthilip Scrivw each of whom brought insight and inspiration to the course. This course h&s become a regular feature of our yearly programme and is highly valued by all who attend it. Equally important to our life together is the recitsl series at St mic}￿e1.4 Lyme Regis. These events continue to enrich the cultural life of the region and provide an OPPK)Ttunity for the work of SWOS to become more widely l extend sincere thanks to those who continue to ensure its success. especially Jane Godfrey, whose refirshments are as dqKndable &$ they welcome. and Ian LuckfratL who so ably oversees the trchnical requirements. Thank you to those on the committee who pian and organtse the recitals. to Peter Parshall who looks after the advertising and our website. Our other musical ventures have also been memorable. The Fcrfonnance of H2ndel's Si John Passion at St Andrew's. Colyt0￿ wa8 an excellent (Kcasion. A gix)d number of young people came to ¢xplor¢ the organ. many encountering its grdndeur for the first time. The combination of serious rnusic-making and informal conviviality proved most effective.
