lofl The year 2020 was a difficult year for us all, Vth government restrictions and lockdowns, as well as fear of the disease ilself. It was a diffi'culi year for the Friends of Killhope loo. We Yre unable to produce our regular newsletters. They are printed at County Hall, Durharn, and the Council's prinl room was closed. A Weaidale spar box came up at auction in Noth'ngham lasi October. The committee ihought rt would fil well with our collection. Unfortunalely. it sold ai a higher Pfice than we had agreed to bid and we were unable to secure it. Al the end of 2020. Durham County Council informed us thal no Progress had been made with the repairs. They Vre still waiting for the suNey io be done. They hoped lo open part of the sile for summer 2021, obviously depending on government restriclions at Ihal time, visitor safety. etc. Over the winter. Margaret Manchester, Chwr ol the Trustees, designed and published a new wb511e for the Friends. The website address is w.friendS0f killhope.org The Friends received several requests from researchers asking for permission lo use photographs from our archives in their publicaiions, to which we agreed. We are very sad to announce that our former chairman, Dick Graham, passed away in February after a short illness. Dick had been a charity trustee for the Friends for many years and Killhope was an important pan of his life. He will be hugely tnissed by all of us.
