Introduction The Long Mynd Adventure Camp was founded in the 1950's by a Shropshire policeman Bill Williams to offer holidays to boys from Wolverhampton, in 1959 the first camp was run and by 1978 the number of visitors began to grow. In 2017 the charity became incorporated and has had great success attracting users with the throughput continuing to exceed 1,000 youngsters a year. 2. Charitsble aim The charity exists to provide a facility to enable less fortunate children to experience the countryside and all it has to offer. 3. Trustees During the year the following served during 2024 as Trustees: JBun M York P Webb P Jenkins The Trustees have a diverse skill set ranging from finance to human resources and are well placed to ensure the smooth running of the Charity. The Trustees are supported by a number of 'Friends of the Camp, who give their time freely to ensure the smooth running of the site. 4. Financial During the year the Camp made a deficit of £ 33,627 which includes record income from users but also includes a significant capital investment of £33k into the camp's building infrastructure for the benefit of visitors. Charitable aims As noted above the Charitable aim of the charity is to provide the camp facilities for less fortunate children and to offer financial support to achieve this. During the year we spent over £3,340 in this respect and will be increasing this figure in years to come. It should be noted that our accounts are prepared on receipts and payments basis and the charitable spend does not show directly in the accounts as some of it is discounted rates given to certain groups. 6. Achievements in 2024 During the year we have: Maintained the camp to a high standard with only positive comments from Users. Completed a major project to carry out a major refurbishment of the girl's and boy's wash block. Review the efficiency of the current water source (borehole), with an order placed late in the year to increase the storage capacity. Continue our fundraising efforts with some £20k raised towards the refurbishment of the disabled washroom. 7. Next year~ 2025 Next year our plans are to.. Complete the disabled wash block refurbishment. Continue to pursue our marketing strategy to safeguard the future of the camp. Pursue our charitable aim. Implement water source recommendations.
