and its immediate vicinity. This is without

2022/23 was operating through exceedingly
tough economic circumstances as a result the
unexpected cost of living increases and
inflation.
Careful budgeting of expenditure allowed us
to maintain, heat and keep the Hall open as
usual despite huge, unforeseen increases in
utility charges. It is becoming increasingly
difficult to meet these expenditures despite
switching energy suppliers and obtaining a
grant towards keeping the Hall warm and
open during the very wintry weather we have
experienced in Dec/Jan/Feb.
We
have
attracted
new
groups
and
organisations offering communal, social
activities and have become a hub for local
businesses to hold their meetings and events.
We have hosted various community events
including Sunday Lunches, Quiz and Bingo
nights, Karaoke, Annual Flower Show and Car
Boot Sales to help towards our continual fund-
raising events.
For the fourth year running we have staged a
production of Somerset Opera and hosted
Bridgwater Carnival events.
Our sports facilities are used by our local
school, sports clubs including tennis, football,
indoor bowls and outdoor boules.
We continue to provide facilities for the
village Youth Club and Social Club - a venue
that is particularly appreciated by many of the
older members of our community..|

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/08/2023.
- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
