|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference<br>the charity’s work has made<br>to the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|The main achievement of the Trust during<br>2022/23 was operating through exceedingly<br>tough economic circumstances as a result the<br>unexpected cost of living increases and<br>inflation.<br>Careful budgeting of expenditure allowed us<br>to maintain, heat and keep the Hall open as<br>usual despite huge, unforeseen  increases in<br>utility charges. It is becoming increasingly<br>difficult to meet these expenditures despite<br>switching energy suppliers and obtaining a<br>grant towards keeping the Hall warm and<br>open during the very wintry weather we have<br>experienced in Dec/Jan/Feb.<br>We<br>have<br>attracted<br>new<br>groups<br>and<br>organisations offering communal, social<br>activities and have become a hub for local<br>businesses to hold their meetings and events.<br>We have hosted various community events<br>including Sunday Lunches, Quiz and Bingo<br>nights, Karaoke, Annual Flower Show and Car<br>Boot Sales to help towards our continual fund-<br>raising events.<br>For the fourth year running we have staged  a<br>production of Somerset Opera and hosted<br>Bridgwater Carnival events.<br>Our sports facilities are used by our local<br>school, sports clubs including tennis, football,<br>indoor bowls and outdoor boules.<br>We continue to provide facilities for the<br>village Youth Club and Social Club - a venue<br>that is particularly appreciated by many of the<br>older members of our community..|

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/08/2023. 

- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
