## **Trustees’ Annual Report**

**For the period 1 October 2022 to 30 September 2023**

Charity Name: UK Han Culture Association

Charity Number: 1173700

## **1. Objectives and Activities**

The charity’s aim is to share traditional Chinese culture in the UK, especially through the traditional Han Chinese clothing Hanfu.

In accordance with our governing document, the trustees have continued to work toward achieving these objectives and ensuring that all activities provide public benefit as required by the Charities Act 2011.

## **2. Achievements and Performance**

This year, we organised in community building events, also expanded our reach and participate in larger scale performance shows and conference events. All to showcase Chinese history, culture and art through the form of Hanfu clothing.

In November 2022, we welcomed new members with two weekend visits to the limited time opening of the Admonitions Scroll ( `女史箴` 图) exhibition at the British Museum. The delicate painting, believed to be dated as early as 5[th] – 8[th] century, provided us with an intense experience of ancient art of painting and also first-hand record of ancient fashion history.

Also in the same month, we volunteered at the Word Travel Market as Hanfu ambassadors. Representing traditional clothing at the world’s travel scene in London.

In January 2023, as part of the Chinese New Year celebration, we organised and performed a Hanfu fashion show at the CSSA UK Chinese New Year Gala 2023.

In the same month, we were invited to give a brief lecture of Hanfu and China’s fashion history at a student accommodation site in London. Sharing our knowledge of Hanfu with students living there.

In Feburary 2023, we celebrated the Lantern Festival at the British Museum. Our

members shared hand-made lanterns with each other.

Spring and summer 2023 was a quite time for us, where we held smaller group meetups in accordance to the Lunar Calendar.
