1. Objectives and Activities

The charity’s aim is to share traditional Chinese culture in the UK, especially through the traditional Han Chinese clothing Hanfu.

In accordance with our governing document, the trustees have continued to work toward achieving these objectives and ensuring that all activities provide public benefit as required by the Charities Act 2011.

2. Achievements and Performance

This year, we continued focusing on community building and rebuilding the members base from the impact of pandemic. We held more in-person group learning events, where members in Hanfu would go to museums and national trust places to learn about history, culture and even nature.

In November 2021, we gathered in the British museum. Where we invited a knowledgeable scholar in history to take us through cultural relics in the museum with a special focus on the Chinese cultural relics.

In January 2022, to celebrate Chinese New Year, we organised a calligraphy and DIY workshop, where members learned from Muyu how to write “ ” (the character “Fourtune”) for Chinese New Year decorations. Also, some of us DIY-ed tiger themed lanterns to celebrate the upcoming Year of Tiger.

In March 2022, we visited the Mudchute Farm. Experiencing a relaxing day with the farm’s animals and the spring scenery.

In April 2022, we organised a group visit to the Kew Gardens. While taking advantage of the intricately built architecture to take Hanfu photos, we also learned from staff in the

Kew Gardens history of the site and also knowledge of various plantations in the Garden.

In June – July 2022, we collaborated with Chinese Food Festival. We acted as fashion history consultant and helped creating promotional materials for the Chinese Food Festival 2022.

In September 2022, we participated in a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration event held by a Bond Street based pop-up shop with calligraphy work shop and Hanfu showcase.

3. Financial Review

The charity had no income or expenditure during the financial year. All events were either organised as a free gathering, or the ticket costs were split between event participants.

The closing balance remains at £0.00.

4. Structure, Governance and Management

The charity is run by a board of volunteer trustees who meet as needed to discuss governance and future plans.

During the year, there were 5 trustees in post.
