Annual statement 2024/2025
Unfortunately this year the charity has made the decision to close. Following a discussion at what would be our final AGM we have come to the decision that since the family bereavement caused myself to take a break as chair of the charity the other trustees have not been active enough to support the running of the charity when I was forced to take a step back for my own wellbeing.
John, the previous chair and co founder has now fully retired and the source of fundraising he had from his connections with a local church is no longer available. This was one of our main single sources of funding at around £1000 each year. Our trustee supporting fundraising and events, Sharon has been approached to run and support a local charity that she would like to invest her time into and has requested to step down as trustee. This leaves just myself to run the charity.
This year our only fundraising event was the Christmas fair that we share with a local rugby club. The rugby club has been very generous in supporting our charity over the years but as our most charities and community volunteer groups they are also beginning to struggle for funds and have had to withdraw sharing the Christmas fair fundraising with us going forward.
After consultation and discussion with our treasurer and accounts it has been agreed that we can no longer function and commit as a group of trustees to run the charity. We have currently got an issue with the GiftAid and are trying to resolve this with the tax code attached to it. It has been agreed that once this has been resolved and the charity has been able to send over the giftaid owed to us to Chaddy Mission School that we support then we will contact the few individual supporters that we do get a donation from and take the steps needed to close down the charity.
It is with a heavy heart that this decision has been made after almost 10 years of building fundraising into a charity and then attempting to continue the charity myself but it is what is best going forward and a decision that has been coming for a while. As chair and co founder I have done my best to independently continue to keep the charity going for as long as I can but unfortunately the time has come where it can no longer continue without the commitment of trustees and without access to regular
fundraising. We have struggled for a while and this past financial year we just have not been able to produce what is needed to ensure the longevity of the charity.
As an individual I will continue to volunteer and support wherever I possibly can to support access to free meals and education within the poverty stricken slums of Nakuru, Kenya as it is a cause that is still very close to my heart.
