Annual report 2021-2022
Another challenging year for the charity with the current economic crisis and the world recovering from the impact of COVID-19. Fortunately we were able to bring back a summer event in August and our annual concert to raise essential funds for our charity. These had to be on a much smaller scale and with many limitations but we were at least thankful to be building the charity profile back up and again and resuming our fundraising.
Due to COVID, we had to really look at our fundraising and sources of income to support Chaddy Mission. As a charity we have always relied on our summer and Christmas large events but we have really had to reconsider how best to use our voluntary time and efforts to channel the most effective way to raise essential funds. We have found that from April 2021 to December 2021, our most successful fundraiser that produced the most fundraising with minimal outgoings was actually the Pennine Way Challenge. Thanks to connections at a local secondary school, some staff volunteered to take part in the challenge to raise funds for Chaddy Mission. The event not only raised over £1000 in combined donations from the team members, but it also had a huge impact on the awareness of the charity and social media presence. Moving into 2022, we have decided to research further into organised events that we can ask volunteers to join in aid of Chaddy Mission.
Our music nights returned this year with another successful evening of a sell out crowd. Again all musicians supported our cause and offered their time free of charge for the event. Currently this is only help in October and there was a conflict with Halloween this year resulting in a delay in the sale of tickets compared to previous events. Moving forward, we are going to seek a larger venue to build on the success of this evening and try to grow the event into a much larger fundraiser potentially held twice a year.
Unfortunately we had a big hit to our fundraising again with the COVID restrictions still in place over the summer but as always our team of volunteers were resourceful in seeking out support from local business to donate raffle prizes. In comparison to previous years support from local business has been a struggle. Understandably the smaller local businesses who would usually support our charity have been hit financially by COVID and were unable to provide as much support so our trustees had to work together reaching out over social media to find support for donations. Another challenge was the cancellation of the Kilimanjaro trek in aid of Chaddy Mission. This has been delayed again for a further 12 months so we have had to pause all fundraising and sponsorship for the event until a new date is confirmed.
Despite the challenges, we have yet again come together as a team and been able to raise the funds needed each month to cover the running costs of Chaddy Mission school. If anything these last 12months have developed us as a team to work resourcefully, effectively and really consider the most cost effective ways of fundraising. Moving forward, I feel as a team we have developed to be stronger and continue to be passionate about our cause. Our social media presence has grown resulting in a raised profile and a new connection with a local rugby club has provided us with a free base to host fundraising events from each year. The
next 12months will probably give us new challenges to face but hopefully none with such barriers that we have had to overcome this year.
