The Trustees of the charity present their annual report and financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31st March 2023. The Trustees have adopted the provisions of the statements of Recommended Practice (SORP) ‘Accounting and reporting by charities’ issued in March 2005 in preparing the report and financial statement of the charity.

Structure, Governance and Management

Elshaddai My Helper is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation formed on 5th July 2017 and has now commence active operation.

The charity is controlled by its governing document and by a board of trustees. Trustees are appointed on the basis of the contribution that they will make to the governance of the organisation and the skills that they will contribute. They are provided with the copies of the Charity Commissions’ guidance to Trustees and the constitution.

The objectives for which the charity is established as set out in its governing documents are:

The relief of poverty and provision of assistance to the adults present with homelessness in Hackney, Stratford and in Nigeria:

Assist by supply of food, clothing, and related items.

Providing assistance and advice to like-minded charity groups.

These objectives are charitable and operate for the benefits of the members of public.

Financial Review:

The total income during the financial year 31st March 2023 to is £3963.00

Money from surplus in the account £ 357.70

The total expenditure during the financial year 31st March 2023 is (£ 4320.70).

Donations are from trustee members, friends, and families. In addition, to the financial donation, trustees’ members and friends also contributed goods (snacks, toiletries, socks, winter gloves etc.) for the outreach and Christmas presents. Christian Kitchen (CK) also provides starters soup.

Volunteers and donations from trustees have been extremely helpful and effective.

Volunteers: Still minimum: we need to recruit more.

●N has been unable to join us due to personal issue, therefore, there has been no clothes distribution.

■Outreach to Walthamstow Ongoing: No concern since last meeting.

■Presently, this includes pack food/dessert: sponsored by Elshaddai (dessert/bread)

Toiletries/socks: Sponsored by Y.

Drinks/extra socks sponsors by A.

■Stratford: Outreach still on hold due to Beatrice personal matter.

■Hackney Has not taken up.

■ Nigeria outreach has not taken up as plan.

Future plan

■To restart breakfast packs for Stratford

■Start meals in Hackney.

■Launch the charity properly next year.

Suggestions:

■To plan for hats knitting for Dec 2023, otherwise, the plan this year is accepted due to time limit.

Appreciation Tasks WhatsApp messages:

General:

• Food/toiletries/ are packs into bags to reduced contact

• Soup prepared by CK. Already packed in cups

• One person in a bus rather than two people to hand out prepared food and

soup

• One person outside the van handling out drinks

• Social distance was encouraged among members

• Packs given out no swings from 35-44,

Significant Events :

•Fewer volunteers since Covid-19 ranging from two volunteers to four volunteers. This is adequate due to the new methods of prepacked foods/drinks/snacks. When there are limited no of 2 Elshaddai volunteers, Christian Kitchen volunteers are also present to assist us. In addition, CK provides volunteer’s driver for the evening to transfers the food, soups, drinks etc.

Christmas Outreach:

•One of the volunteer’s friends and families donated some prepacked gifts (see picture).

General

•A packed cooked meals are prepared for the Walthamstow Outreach – this reduces need for more volunteers and easier distributions.

•Toiletries and socks are distributed on each outreach, which is on last Saturday of the month.

•As mentioned before, we have not been able to resume outreach to Stratford or to start plan outreach to Hackney.

~47 take away food: (including second takeaway food).

~About 54 packs of bread/ cake finished.

~About 54 Variety bags (some returns bag).

~Environment: Calm.

*The next meetings: meetings fluctuate due to trustee’s personal affair, but some participate in the actual outreach.

Activities of the charity:

Walthamstow: Once a month: We use CK Mobile van to serve three course meals, toiletries, socks, and Christmas gifts.

Stratford: (once a month) Suspended.

Volunteers: During this financial year, apart from the 2 Trustee members, we also had about two volunteers (stable between 2-4 on each night)

Service users: 30-40 adults that presents with homelessness, including rough sleepers (males and females). However, some service users collect food/packs for their friends and family members. However, numbers fluctuate.

Building/Venue:

Walthamstow: The charity does not have its own building; however, we serve the service users under the umbrella of Christian Kitchen once a month and uses its Mobile van and Church Hall to arrange prepared meals and one of the trustees houses to do the packing of the variety’s bags. Soup is prepared by the CK volunteer and co-ordinator.

Stratford: Suspended

Trustees Responsibility : Trustees are responsible for preparing the annual report and the financial statement, including keeping proper accounting records.
