Butterley Ironworks Trust
Chairs Report 2021/2022
The year was highlighted by the award of a Grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to enable a professional assessment of the potential heritage attraction of the Butterley Works site. The estimated cost of the study is £30k and, to be in receipt of the NLH Grant of £10k, the Trust raised a similar amount itself, and secured a further £10k grant from Ripley Town Council.
The Trust is very grateful to have received the support it has and appointed three organisations – Focus Consultancy, James Boon Architects and Image Makers - to help develop the various options that would ensure the long-term future of the site’s heritage assets.
The final Business Case is expected to be completed and submitted to NLHF in the next year.
