Organisation (CIO) and was established on the 3 July 2017 with the Ch2rity Con]mission for England and Wales. The principal
address is 2￿21 Oxford Place, PlyrnoutM Devon PLI 5AJ.
Objects of the charity
The objects of th¢ charity are:_
(a}
To enable persons In Plymoud4 East Cornwall and South West Devon and th¢ surrounding area as well as elsewhere
who are experiencing fe¢lings of distress or despair, including those who may be at risk of suicide. to receive
confidential emotional supwrt at any time of the day or night in order to improve theiT emotional health and reduce
the incidence of suicide.

To promote a better und¢rstanding in society of suicide. suicidal behaviour and the value of expr¢&sing feelings wbich

To collabordte with and support Samaritans Central Charity and its affiliated branches in fulfilling these objects.

The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by tbe Charity Commission on pubb'c benefit and believe the main
activities undertaken to further the charity's PUTpose5 foT the public benefit.

Main activities In the period
The Charity bad another busy year fulfilling its role providing support to people experiencing emotional distress. During the
year, the Charity's volunteers answered over 13,000 calls and 2,500 en)ails and provided over 4,000 hours Ell direct supporl in
each c&se thead of p¢rformance in the previous year.
The Charity ren1alt￿ in a good position to continue to provide noD-judgemental supwrt to those in need throughout the
ren￿1nder of 2024 and beyond.
Financial revlew
An excess of exp¢nditure over income of £1,774 was recorda in the year ended 31 March 2024 as received in the
previous year w¢r¢ spent and a loan was repaid to its subsidiary.
Income overall decreased to £74,851 cowared to £86,246 the previous year during which its financially suc¢essfv]
Anniversary Ball was held. Volunteer5 claimed OV￿ £31,000 in travel expenses and then donated them back to the branch
enabling gift aid to be claimed on those amounts.

As a result cash in bank at 31 March 2024 stood at a very healthy £102,249.

Guarantees and debts
The thistees confirnL in accordance with the Clwitable tncorporated Organisations Act (General) Regulations 2012,
that at the year end the CIO did not have any outstanding guarantees to third parties nor any debts secured On assets of
the CIO.
Trustse remuueration
Trustres are not remunerated. Seven trustees were paid travel and other incurTed on b¢half of th¢ ChaTity totalling
£10.509 in the year. Of this amount £10,201 was donated back to the Charity and gift aid claimed on those donations.
The￿ were no related paty trdnsactions.

The transfer of £1.690 from Restrictd Ccntta] Prison Fund to Unrestricted Funds is to cover costs of delivering the
service.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year etLded 31 March 2024 which are
sel out on pages 3 to 5.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the chaTity's tTUStees you are responsible for the prepardtion of the accounts in accordance with the requiTernents of the
Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,).
