Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 To advance the education of the public in
general on the subject of Yungdrung Bon;
to promote research for public benefit into
all aspects of that subject and to publish the
outcomes of such research and teaching; to
ensure the teachings of Yungdrung Bon are
preserved in the world.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
-
January 2024 marked the centenary of our
Honorary Member Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin
Namdak and our founding members Carol
Ermakova and Dmitry Ermakov were
invited to present at an academic
conference held in the Bon monastery in
Kathmandu. They were also invited to
contribute papers for a special Centenary
Publication. These papers, plus Dmitry’s
presentation, have subsequently been
made available via our website.
-
Just a few months later, Yongdzin
Rinpoche passed away, and FPYB actively
shared prayers, practices and information
via our website. These were greatly
appreciated by the worldwide
congregation.
-
In June, we launched a new
Prayers&Practices page on our website.
This offers a growing selection of materials
in several languages.
-
While in Kathmandu, we were able to
donate a large number of our books,
printed locally, to Khenpo Lungrig Nyima
for his monastery library in Ladakh.
-
This year we began collaborating with
Spanish translators. Several prayers have
been translated, 2 books have been
translated, and we are currently looking at
publishing options.
-
This year, we organised our first ever
seminar retreat. Held in Italy,it was
attended by people new to this tradition
as well as those who have been studying
Yungdrung Bon for many years.
Participants came from German, Holland,
UK, Germany and Switzerland. Drubdra
Khenpo led the seminars, and was also
invited to talk at La Sapienza University in
Rome; his presentation was also broadcast
online and translated into several
languages. This event was gratis, and the
costs of the trip to Italy were generously
borne by a local sponsor.
-
Following the success of the first seminar,
a second was held in May. Although very
meaningful, this was less successful from a
financial point of view.
-
FPYB also co-organised a weekend seminar
in London. The course was open to
everyone, and many people were
interested in our educational materials.
-
In both Italy and London, Drubdra Khenpo
led traditional rituals to harmonise the
natural environment, and in particular, to
help purify all aspects of waterways. Both
events were well attended, and in
conjunction with this, we prepared an
informative article on our website for
those who want to continue this practice
at home. We also translated the ritual text
from Tibetan into English, and Italian,
together with instructions.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit

Contribution made by
volunteers
Para 1.38 The Foundation is staffed solely by a
handful of volunteers. Their work includes
translating texts from Tibetan to English;
translating FPYB publications from English
to other languages; layout and design of
publications; coordinating fund-raising
campaigns; accounting; managing social
media and FPYB website; replying to
emails; all legal matters, including ensuring
FPYB publications are not spread on
unsanctioned websites. Since September
2024, our volunteer secretary has also
taken on all the administration for
organising meditation seminars in Italy.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 -
A sizeable collection of FPYB
publications donated to Khenpo
Lungrig Nyima’s monastery library and
currently available to the monks, nuns
and general public.
-
4 new books in English, 2 in Russian,
and 4 in Italian.
-
By offering several prayers in several
languages, all gratis and freely
available from our website, FPYB is
contributing to the general wellbeing
and mental health of the society as a
whole;
-
Provided information, including a
video, on how to harmonise one’s
natural environment, particularly water;
-
The publication of books for advanced
meditators goes some way to meeting
the growing need for high-quality study
materials;
-
In response to requests from the
general public, we re-edited and
published a book dedicated to
understanding death. This is obviously
of great benefit and comfort to
countless people.
-
Thanks to donating proceeds from the
sale of one book directly to the main
Bonpo monastery in Nepal, the
building project to provide better living
quarters, classrooms and a temple for
the monks and nuns is progressing
well.

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 At the end of this financial period, FPYB
funds are down by £1,203. This is largely
due to losses associated with the second
retreat in Italy, as well as with the
Centenary Conference in Nepal.
Nevertheless, at year’s end we closed with
£2,081 held in FPYB PayPal account and
£4,211 held in FPYB current account. This
is still more than the £5,000 with which we
started the Foundation.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 FPYB does not have a reserves policy as
we are such a small CIO.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 N/A
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 N/A
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 N/A

uncertainties about the

Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:

The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including
any fundraising)
Para 1.47 This year, our main source of funds was
book sales. We also received larger
general donations than in previous years.
This is largely due to an outpouring of
generosity and gratitude for all the spiritual
materials we provided gratis around the
time of Yongdzin Rinpoche’s death. We
also received generous sponsorship for the
first meditation seminar in Italy (October
2024).
