## **Trustee's  Report 2020** 

2020 has been a very unusual year for the Association. At the start of the year, the global COVID-19 pandemic was a growing concern and by March 2020 we had to make the decision to close.  The week prior to closure we hosted the first stage show for many years, produced by one of our dance schools, which was a lovely final event to host. 

Throughout our closure, two groups have managed to continue operating due to the nature of their work – The Felling Food Network and FoodCycle Felling.  Both groups have adapted their ways of working to allow them to continue providing necessary services to the community. 

Sadly, most of our regular customers have not been able to return.  The difficult decision was made to permanently close the Sequence Dance Club and some of our other long-term clients have not operated during lockdown. We have also had to turn away several opportunities to rent space due to the uncertainty of when/if we will be able to re-open our doors and the lack of clarity around when we will be forced to shut down for demolition. 

During the year we have been liaising with Gateshead Council to discuss the imminent demolition of our building and what will happen to the Association and, most unexpectedly, the Council was able to locate suitable premises for us to potentially move to. The suggested site has great promise and with some work on the layout we are hopeful that we will be able to take on management of this building and make it the new home of the Association. 

A huge thank you to Diane Semmence (Caretaker and Trustee) and David Semmence (Caretaker and Trustee) for their continued hard work and dedication during this period of uncertainty, ensuring visitors have been able to use our venue safely and keeping our building COVID-free, as well as managing our accounts and ensuring we are financially able to operate. 

Thank you to Maureen Southern MBE (Secretary and Trustee) for her ongoing support and administration of the Association during such a difficult period. 

Whilst the building closure and demolition will undoubtedly be a difficult time for us, we are hopeful that there are better times ahead in the coming year
