Objectives and Activities
The aim of the Pre-School and Flying Start setting is to provide a happy, caring, stimulating, and safe environment that enhances the development and education of pre-school children in Wales. We support and encourage families to understand and meet the needs of their children through highquality early years provision and childcare.
The main purpose of the charity is to provide high-quality childcare to the local community and surrounding areas. Our core aim is to promote the development of young children and to support parents and carers in meeting their children's needs.
We achieve this by:

Offering a rich, stimulating, and inclusive environment that supports both play and early education.

Working in partnership with multi-agency teams such as

health visitors, speech and language therapists, the Early Help team, and Children’s Social Services.

Providing children with real and meaningful experiences they may not access at home. This includes community outings, as well as inviting artists, musicians, and

members of the local community to work alongside the children.

Delivering services as part of both our Pre-School and Flying Start provision, tailored to meet the individual needs of families.

Supporting access to government-funded schemes,

including Tax-Free Childcare and the Childcare Offer for Wales, to make high-quality early education more accessible to working families.
Through all of this, we are committed to nurturing the wellbeing, learning, and holistic development of every child in our care.
Enfys Fach Policies and Procedures
SUMMARY OF THE CHARITY'S YEAR
The period September 2024 to August 2025 has been an incredibly successful and transformative year for Enfys Fach Nursery. Throughout the year, we have remained committed to providing high-quality childcare and early years education while
strengthening our role as a community-focused charity that supports children, families and the wider community.
Children's Voice and Holistic Development
At Enfys Fach, children continue to be at the heart of everything we do. Through in-the-moment planning, careful observation and meaningful interactions, practitioners have
supported children's individual interests, strengths and developmental needs. Children have enjoyed a rich range of opportunities to explore, investigate, create and learn through play, enabling them to develop confidence, independence and resilience.
Our curriculum has remained firmly rooted in the principles of the Curriculum for Wales, supporting children to become confident communicators, ambitious learners, healthy individuals and ethical citizens. Through daily routines, rolling snack provision, floor books, community experiences and childled learning opportunities, children have played an active role in shaping their learning journeys.
Enriched Learning Experiences
Throughout the year, children have participated in a wide range of meaningful and memorable experiences. Our Artist of the Month initiative has continued to grow, welcoming talented local professionals into the setting to inspire creativity and curiosity. Children explored photography through workshops with a local photographer, engaged in science week activities, participated in musical experiences and enjoyed opportunities to learn from visitors from the local community.
Celebrations and cultural experiences have played an important role in broadening children's understanding of the world around them. Throughout the year we celebrated Shwmae Day, St Dwynwen's Day, Chinese New Year, Diwali, Children's Mental Health Week and many other significant events. These experiences have supported children in
developing a sense of identity, belonging and respect for diversity.
Outdoor Learning and Environmental Education
Outdoor learning continues to be a significant strength of our provision. Children access the outdoor environment daily and regularly participate in Forest School experiences, community walks, gardening projects and nature-based learning opportunities.
A significant achievement this year has been the continued development of our community allotment and garden project. Through planting, nurturing and harvesting, children have developed an understanding of healthy eating, sustainability and environmental responsibility. The project has created valuable opportunities for intergenerational learning and community involvement and culminated in Enfys Fach being awarded the Little Gardeners of the Year 2025 Award.
Our commitment to outdoor learning has enabled children to develop confidence, physical skills, resilience and a strong connection with the natural world.
Emotional Wellbeing and Family Support
Promoting emotional wellbeing remains central to our ethos. During the year, our manager successfully qualified as a Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aider, further strengthening our ability to support children, families and staff.
Children's Mental Health Week provided an opportunity to focus on emotional literacy, self-expression and wellbeing. Through stories, play experiences, discussions and nurturing relationships, children were supported to recognise, understand and communicate their feelings.
Alongside our work with children, we have continued to provide practical and emotional support to families through partnership working, signposting and regular communication. We recognise the importance of supporting the whole family and remain
committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where families feel valued and supported.
Community Engagement and Partnerships
Community engagement has continued to flourish throughout the year. We have hosted family events including seasonal celebrations, Halloween activities, Christmas experiences, Mother's Day pamper sessions, Father's Day Forest School events and community outings.
One of the highlights of the year was the launch of the Enfys Fach Community Library. This initiative was developed to promote literacy, encourage reading for pleasure and provide families with free access to books within the local community.
We have also strengthened partnerships with local schools, community groups, businesses and organisations. Generous donations from local businesses have enhanced children's learning experiences, while collaborative working with schools and professionals has supported smooth transitions and early intervention for children who require additional support.
Healthy Lifestyles and Wellbeing
This year, Enfys Fach was proud to receive the Powys Gold Standard Healthy Snack Award. This achievement recognises our ongoing commitment to providing healthy, nutritious food and promoting positive lifelong habits from an early age.
Healthy eating, physical activity and wellbeing continue to be embedded throughout daily practice. Children are encouraged to make healthy choices, participate in food preparation activities and develop an understanding of where food comes from through our gardening projects.
Recognition and Achievement
The year has brought significant recognition for the quality of provision at Enfys Fach. In April 2025, we were honoured to be named Best Early Years Setting at the Mid Wales Business Awards.
This award reflects the dedication, passion and professionalism of our staff team, the support of our families and the strength of the relationships we have built within our community. We were delighted to celebrate this achievement with families, children, staff and community partners who have contributed to our continued success.
Leadership and Staff Development
The staff team remains one of the charity's greatest strengths. Throughout the year, practitioners have continued to engage in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge, skills and practice.
A culture of reflective practice, collaboration and continuous improvement continues to underpin our work. Staff have demonstrated unwavering commitment to providing nurturing, high-quality experiences for children and families while embracing new opportunities for learning and development.
Looking Forward
As we look ahead, we remain committed to building upon the successes of this year. We will continue to strengthen community partnerships, promote children's wellbeing, develop outdoor learning opportunities and ensure every child has access to high-quality early years experiences.
Our vision remains that every child who attends Enfys Fach leaves us as a confident communicator, wellbeing warrior, expressive thinker, curious investigator, inclusive champion and passionate problem solver.
Through our continued focus on Enabling Adults, Engaging Experiences and Effective Environments, we look forward to supporting even more children and families to thrive in the years ahead.

Further Financial information
Enfys Fach setting receives funding from the local authority through both the 3 & 4-Year-Old Early Education funding and Flying Start funding.
Funding (£6.40 per hr) covers morning educational provision 9am – 11am or 1pm – 3pm. For sessions beyond this time, costs are either:

Covered by the Childcare Offer for Wales, or

Paid directly by parents/carers as wraparound care at a rate of £5.00 per hour.
Flying start funds us for the number of staff we have for the children we are allocated. We are able to offer childcare for up to 16 children at a time meaning we have 4 members of staff within this room to ensure ratio’s are met.
This structure allows us to offer flexible, high-quality childcare and education, tailored to meet the needs of our families while maintaining accessible, affordable provision.
