Chairmans Annual Report

of the

Wicken Jubilee Village Hall Charity

This report covers the financial year from 1/1/2023 to 31/12/2023

From 1/1/23 to 20/6/23 the hall was run by eleven volunteers as Trustees of this Trust :

Ms G Rogers, Ms S.Leek, Mr R. White, Mrs C.Blott, Mrs S.Jones, Mr J.Clarke, Mrs C.Clay, Mrs G.Turner, Mrs R. Barnes & Mrs A.Adams.

One Appointed Trustee: Mrs S.Wilson for Wicken Parish Council.

At the AGM 20/6/23 6 trustees stood down and the current Trustees are: Mrs R. Barnes (chair) Mr R White (treasurer) Ms K.Woodroffe (secretary) Mrs C.Clay & Mrs M Adams

One appointed Trustee: Mrs S.Wilson for Wicken Parish Council.

As a reminder for those of you who are trustees and as information to new people who may wish to be a trustee, the object of the CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) is to establish and run the village hall for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of Wicken. We must provide, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, race or religious opinions, facilities for recreation and other leisure time activities and so improve the lives of the inhabitants of the Parish.

I am delighted to report that the Hall continues to be a busy hive of activity, offering activities for all ages. We have regular bookings from Horizons dance group, Fen tiggers playgroup, Wicken Coronation band, Swallowtails, Art group and Pilates classes.

The hall is also frequently booked for weddings, parties and various meetings and itself has held the annual Christmas market, Picnic by the Pond & Halloween party along with bingo nights & quiz nights.

Revenue from the above regular bookings and fund raising is essential to keep the Charity solvent and is partly invested back into the hall to update and maintain it and create a safer environment for all Hall users whilst also being used for the day to day running of the Hall.

In 2023 the Hall joined forces with the Parish Council to resurface the car park. And along with smaller projects the lighting in the hall was replaced.

The Charity maintains a working balance and keeps a contingency fund of a minimum £10,000.

I would like to thank all the Trustees for their continued support, enthusiasm and hard work during 2023.
