This includes dogs with diabetes, skin conditions and ongoing behavioural issues. In this financial year we supported dogs in veterinary and behavioural costs amounting to £14,205.61

VOLUNTEERS, DONORS AND FOSTERERS:
-
The charity is indebted to the volunteers who have rescued and fostered dogs, carried out home checks and raised funds. The charity continues to receive support from other groups who have helped with home checks and carry out regular westie walks to support Westie Rescue UK and raise funds. We are very grateful for all of their contributions.
-
We would like to specifically recognize the following foster carers who have taken dogs as a first port of call prior to rehoming to the forever homes, as well as providing long term foster care:
-
Pauline Crook Rebecca and Andrew Loss Dianne Hughes
-
● The charity also wishes to acknowledge and thank all of the members who have regularly contributed through donation, fundraisers and auctions. ● The charity bank account is in credit and on 21st June had funds of £17,286.41 as a result of adoptions, donations, fundraising and bequests.
-
● The charity has been grateful for regular contributions from Ayr Westie Walkers and Westie Walk York .
-
● As a charity, Gift Aid applies, and we are in the process of reclaiming this as the previous method (Donation Manager) is no longer available to us.
-
● The charity has been extremely grateful for the bequests received this year. ● Nikki Bailey has kindly provided support in relation to the Charity Accounts. ● The Trustees are concerned about the level of funds held at the current time. At the current level of expenditure the charity will no longer be able to continue. We need to ensure that we have sufficient funds to support our existing dogs.
-
● Due to the Charity’s financial position, we need to address how the charity is funded going forwards.
-
● Currently fundraising takes the form of ongoing activities such as:

There was discussion about other means of raising funds to ensure the continuation of Westie Rescue UK. The following ideas were considered:
-
Membership fee
-
Explore other fundraising/grant opportunities from external sources.
-
No commitment to cover pre-existing medical conditions for dogs adopted through Westie Rescue UK going forward.
-
Asking current adopters to contribute to their dogs’ medical bills.
-
● Review the adoption fee - possibly with a scale of fees dependent upon the age of the
-
dog i.e. Under 1 year of age £500 - 1-5 years £350 - 5+ years - £300
-
