||Trustees have had regard to the public benefit guides when making<br>decisions that they are relevant to.<br>The charity spent the year fundraising and operating the charity’s grant<br>giving scheme.<br>The following statement summarises the way in which the charity will<br>contribute to the public good.<br>“Kay’s Endeavours (Registered Charity Number 1173531) acts as a<br>support fund for cancer patients. It will offer grants to adults who have a<br>cancer diagnosis and are being treated at St Bartholomew's Hospital.<br>Many cancer patients are unable to work temporarily or permanently<br>because of their illness and / or the side effects of the treatments and<br>medication that they receive. Members of their family may also have<br>reduced earnings if they need to stop work or work less in order to care<br>for the patient. They and their families may have many and complex<br>needs in terms of trying to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing<br>whilst dealing with the illness. The charity's aim is to provide funding for<br>measures which will improve the quality of life of the patient and / or<br>their family and to address any gaps in the support which is already<br>available. This could include funding for equipment, medical aids, travel<br>expenses or social / recreational activities.”<br>33 applications were received during the year for variety of support<br>including:<br>•<br>travel costs for attending hospital for treatment;<br>•<br>financial support for living expenses;<br>•<br>clothing and other personal items (e.g. wigs);<br>•<br>household items to help with issues connected to health;<br>•<br>food and utility bills; and<br>•<br>breaks to recover from treatment.<br>Below are some of the responses from the recipients of the grants:<br>“Thank you for your time and help! It means a lot to me in this difficult<br>time!”<br>“Thank you so much for this support, I can’t tell you how important this<br>will be for me and my family!”<br>“Thank you so much for your quick and positive response,  I deeply<br>appreciate it.”|

I cannot explain how much financial pressure this has relieved from me whilst having my cancer treatment at Barts. I cannot thank you and the charity enough.” “Thank you very much. My mother sends her utmost thanks and gratitude to Kay’s Grant.”
