Draper Together, which is now in its seventh year of operation, has been successful in delivering projects despite having a small workforce and a restricted budget. DT was successful in meeting its responsibilities and delivering on a significant number of outstanding projects. This was accomplished in spite of the many operational hurdles that needed to be overcome. We have been successful in re-establishing connections with members of the local community, and we are continually working to determine the needs of the local demographic within our residential community in order to establish the goals and aspirations of our stakeholders, which include residents of Draper Estate as well as people from other areas

We have continued to strengthen and cultivate successful relationships with local businesses, and as a result, we have attracted the attention of several local charities and trusts, as well as Southwark Council. Our proven track record in securing funding and successfully delivering our projects has also brought us to the attention of local businesses. We have a great commitment to maintaining tight relationships with other charitable organisations and working closely with them. The following organisations are able to attest to our sincerity since we have opened our doors to them at charitable rates in order to provide them with a location to deliver their project that is extremely viable, inexpensive, central, and suitable for the purpose for which it was intended

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**

As part of the events for black history month in 2022, Draper Together organised two evenings with different themes. These evenings focused on African storytelling, including tales of the Windrush and black mental health. The second event with a theme was geared at younger people and centred on drawing, poetry, and drumming. This encouraged contact between younger and older people as well as between other cultures. People from within the Southwark borough as well as members of the Draper estate were among the guests that we hosted. The people living in Draper were very involved in the proceedings of these significant events. Both events had a significant number of attendees, and they were a huge success in terms of generating publicity for Draper together. Not only did they attract a large number of locals, but they also attracted visitors from the greater London area, who were exposed to the volunteer work that we carry out in the neighbourhood

In June 2022 we started the Draper youth club which runs every Friday. This event has steadily grown to a peak of 17 youths doing various activities such as table tennis, art, dj workshop, PlayStation etc. Many of the young people who participate in our youth club reside in high-rise buildings, meaning they have no or limited access to a garden or were unable to enter the outdoors without adult supervision. This has always been a problem in estates and specific areas of south London where gang culture is widely recognised. Our youth club activities promote sociability, self-esteem, stress reduction, and helps to increase mental health. All sessions are well-attended, and our project facilitators keep the youth involved in a variety of activities. Draper Together acknowledges the significance of physical activity and strives to involve individuals of all ages without discrimination. Draper Together recognises that participation in activities results in a variety of beneficial outcomes, including increased self-confidence, improved social skills, greater competency, enhanced teamwork, self-discipline, and fewer depression symptoms, to mention a few

Through the course of 2022, the DRAPER FILM AND MUSIC ACADEMY was gradually revived, and its youths participated in a variety of filming projects with organisations such as the Kennington Road TRA, the Amplified Arts project, Jah Eyez, and Bridge the Gap. Students had the opportunity to gain knowledge in the areas of filmmaking, music, and photography. Drumming sessions and DJ classes were recently added to our selection of available music classes, and we couldn't be happier with how well they've been received by our youngsters. There was a diverse range of ages, genders, identities and ethnicities present at the event, and the volunteers that helped with the project came from a variety of different areas and age groups. Now that the Young Vic is on board, they are pleased to include us on their mailing lists, which opens up the possibility for our youngsters to receive complimentary tickets to a variety of performances

Some examples of these activities include coffee and cake, chair yoga, cooking classes for people over the age of 60, warm hubs, summer holiday activities, and trips to the theatre. In addition to this, we got our young people involved in community projects, which gave them the opportunity to have their thoughts heard regarding projects and changes in their borough.

Page 6

## **DRAPER TOGETHER CIO**

## **Trustees Annual Report**

The charitable organisation is governed by its governing document, a trust deed, and is registered as a charitable organisation. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day management, including the implementation of strategy approved by the Trustee Board, as well as the operational side of the charity's operation. At each Board meeting, the Director reports on organisational performance relative to approved strategy. This allows Trustees to regularly monitor and evaluate performance.

The Board of Trustees is accountable for implementing an effective internal control system, including the identification and management of risk. Our approach to risk is managed and reviewed by our assurance framework, which is overseen by the Finance Committee.

The Board's work is complemented by the Draper Together Management Team, which ensures the security, performance, and quality of our operational services and projects. In reality, Draper Together will record risks in a risk register, analyse them in terms of impact and likelihood, and then document the necessary measures to mitigate the risk.

## **Statement of trustees' responsibilities in relation to the financial statements**

The charity trustees are responsible for preparing a trustees' annual report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the applicable Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations, and the provisions of the Trust deed. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

**DRAPER TOGETHER CIO Independent Examiners Report**

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the trustees of DRAPER TOGETHER CIO**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of DRAPER TOGETHER CIO for the year ended 31 March 2022 which comprise the Statement of Financial Activities, the Balance Sheet and the related notes.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011('the Act'). The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under the Charities Act 2011, s.144(2) (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

I report in respect of my examination of the charity's financial statements carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner's statement**

I have completed my examination. I can confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

- the accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

- the financial statements do not accord with those records; or

- the financial statements do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of the financial statements set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the financial statements give a 'true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the financial statements to be reached.
