Archblshops Palace Conservation Trust Year ended 30th June 2023 Trustees, Report The Trustees present their annual report and financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 June 2023. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accountinE policies set out in note I to the accounts and comply with the charitys trust deed. the Charities Art 2011 and the Charities SORP IFRS 1021. Objertives and Acti¥itie5 The Trust has a lease of 99 years forthe site and buildings of the Tudor Palace in Otford from Sevenoaks District Countil. The Trutt will engage with a wide range of people from north-west Kent and London. Ltsing the site and buildings of thè Tudor Palace and the OtFord Heritage Collection to promote the understanding and enjoyment of the heritage of the Darent Valley, and thus to engender their well-being through engagement with that herf(aBe. To achieve this. we will restore the iconic buildings of the Archbishop's Palace in Otford and create an interpretation centre that will art as a hub for further exploration. Achlevements and perforniance Work is concluding to underpin and secure the stability of the Palace Tower for the future and it has now been able to move to the next phase to secure the upper half of the Tower. The Trust Is again most grateful to all funders. which in addition to local donations include this year- The Hedley Trust and Historic Houses Foundation as well as those pledged last year from- The Darent Valley landscape Partnership Scheme, Garfield Weston Foundation, Enovert Community Tnjst and the PilgrFm Trust. Other actr¥ities include a plan for audience development looking ahead as well as running Christma5 and May Day fairs. These amounts a been treated a5 restricted funds for this agreed purpose. More will be needed for this ambitious projeci and however and a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund is underwav. Expenditu during the year. Stabilisation costs from tricted funds during the year amounted to £38.060 12022 . £66.8971. General upkeep of the Palace Fièld and administration of the Trust amounted to £9.1. Structure, Governance and Man4emeot The Trustee board met 4 times to rewew proBsS and fvture objertT¥es through detailed papers provided by the Secretary. There have also been sever31 0 day events and working parties to help with the Var$ aspects of achieving the TDJst aims. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention with tlems recognised at their cost values and under the Statement of Recommended Prartice.. Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and with the Charities Att 2011. 1.2 Income Income is recognised once the charity has entitlement to the irKome and it is probable that the income wlll be received and the amount of income tan be measured reliabfy. 1.3 Expenditure Expenditure 15 recogni5ed once there 15 a legal or construtttve obligation to transfer economic benefft to third party and it is probable that a transfer of economic benefit will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured lIalv. 1.4 Fund accounting Restritted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictlOn5 imposèd by donors or whith have been raised bythe charity for particular purposes. 2 Support COSt5 None of the Trustees are remunerated. Reimbursemerrt of expenses may be made in certain arcumstances. Mergers and translefs During the previous yearthe Charity rered the assets of the Orford Heritsge Collection with a view to displaying the items in the Palacè Tower when its restoration has been completed. The Charrty was also the beneficiary of a transfer of assets from the Charing pala TnJst when that trust was wound up.
