## OUR VALUES

QUALITY & EQUALITY

**We believe that all human beings are born equal and, therefore, have the same rights to basic needs, such as education, health, housing, empowerment and freedom. We want our communities to develop quality services and tools towards their own growth and fulfillment.**

**We value and thrive in the cultural, ethnic and religious diversity of our communities. We encourage and celebrate this diversity as it provides a constant source of enrichment and learning. We place particular focus on groups at risk of exclusion and ensure they develop their confidence and voice within their own communities.**

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

## PARTNERSHIP & SUSTAINABILITY

## OPENNESS & TRANSPARENCY

**We promote a culture of openness and transparency with our partners and communities in India, but also with our volunteers and funders in the UK and Spain. We are in constant dialogue with our Indian partners and keep our followers an donors up-to-date on our activities and projects through our website and social media outlets.**

## HERSTORY

living in India

**Most of us have worked for charities, spent long periods of time in rural communities in India at different points in our lives, sometimes just passing through, other times settling down somewhere, getting to know the local population and helping with what was most necessary.**

**In the last decade or so, India has become known as one of the world’s super powers, with a fast-growing economy, one of the epicentres of technology and nuclear energy. Urban areas are expanding, with more access to wealth therefore better standards of living. And as this process continues, the West has started to turn its charitable efforts towards other parts of the world thought to need them more.**

**However, as tends to be the case in developing countries, this process hasn’t meant a better life for all Indian citizens. Some Indian communities are still extremely deprived with poor access to basic needs, such as education, housing, health and water.**

**Human rights, and women’s rights in particular, are still being neglected. There’s still so much to do and so much less money being invested in what is really necessary.**

## MEET THE TEAM

**I've always wanted to create something to give back to the community who nurtured and taught me so much. Indian Futures is fruit of the love for those people and my passion for helping create a better world, a world where everyone has equal access to all the things we need.**

**It's been amazing to be part of the IF charity from the start and seeing it develop in the UK, Spain and India. I especially love the people we have met, and seeing the enthusiasm of others to help is overwhelming and very special.**

**The work Indian Futures does is so important. Education plays such a key role in transforming lives. We have already achieved so much & have some very exciting plans for the future.**

**I live in Brighton with my son, Malachy. We started supporting Indian Futures by helping out at festivals and fundraising events, and I became a trustee in 2018. It's been so exciting to see the charity grow and develop over the past four years and the positive impact this has created for the children and students we support.**

**In 2008 I joined Anna in India to work on an educational project as a volunteer for 6 months. That experience helped me reflect on and come to terms with deprivation, unfairness, a sense of resignation and the importance of education as a very good way to fight them all. 10 years later, the project is up and running and I continue to support it by collaborating and fundraising for Indian Futures from Barcelona.**

**I am very excited to be volunteering for Indian Futures and supporting a charity close to my heart. I believe everyone should have the same opportunities and access to education and I'm looking forward to seeing Indian Futures develop and grow!**

**Hi I'm Hanna. I joined Indian Futures as a volunteer in spring 2019. I've been helping at fundraising events in Brighton and currently working on our website updates. It's been a fun, meaningful and inspirational time with Indian Futures and I am so thrilled to see more growth of the charity. Go Indian Futures!**

**Hey! I'm Kane and I have a strong connection with India through my family heritage. I learnt a lot about India and the colonial wrongdoings in the past and wanted to help make a change. I came across Indian Futures - grassroot charity that truly makes a difference putting the people at its heart. Indian Futures listens to what is needed rather than what we think is needed. Proud to be a part of the team!**

**I joined Indian Futures as a volunteer in 2017. Since then I've been incredibly lucky to get to know some of the people we support in Tamil Nadu. Being part of the Indian Futures family and fundraising is fun but it's most exciting to think of the impact we could have as we continue to grow.**
