food pantry in the local community centre which as well providing subsidised food will be able to provide a place for people to gather and receive advice and moral support. ||Summary of the main<br>achievements of the<br>charity, identifying the<br>diference the charity’s<br>work has made to the<br>circumstances of its<br>benefciaries and any<br>wider benefts to society<br>as a whole.|Para 1.20|The beginning of this period coincided<br>with the outbreak of the COVID<br>Pandemic.<br>Like many organisations we had to<br>immediately cease face to face<br>meetings which required a steep<br>learning curve to accommodate<br>online technology such as ‘zoom’ and<br>producing and editing video clips so<br>we could continue to operate online<br>meetings, city wide ‘pray for the city’<br>events and video presentations.<br>It quickly became clear to us that the<br>local community required support.<br>The efects of the virus including ill<br>health, loss of income,  loneliness and<br>isolation combined with ongoing<br>issues of deprivation and child<br>poverty manifested in considerable<br>need.<br>Due to an already established<br>presence in the community, we were<br>able to mobilise and form a<br>partnership between community<br>leaders, the local High School and<br>ourselves as the lead charity, This<br>project is called CAST (Coronavirus<br>Action, St Mellons and Trowbridge)<br>Starting with a substantial online and<br>leafet campaign and a 24hour<br>helpline, we then recruited over 60<br>volunteers and as a result have been<br>able to help nearly 2,000 people with<br>over 700 deliveries of food, 350<br>family  activity packs and white<br>goods. In addition, a recovery<br>mentoring programme has been<br>established with 4 trained mentors<br>Towards the end of this period, we<br>began preparations for a Food Pantry<br>in the local Community Centre, which<br>as well as providing access to good<br>quality, low cost food will help bring<br>the community together<br>During the Pandemic we also<br>maintained our links with the local<br>High School, where we operate a<br>chaplaincy.<br>As stated above, through our CAST<br>partnership we helped support the<br>young people by the provision of 350<br>activity packs. We also held on-line<br>assemblies<br>and even ran a fun summer activity<br>throughout the community with a||

## **Financial Review** 

Review of the charity’s Para 1.21 financial position at the end of the period 

The charity received £91,195 of income set against £35,977 expenditure. Leaving a surplus of

The charity<br>inherited a residual balance of<br>£31,093 from the previous year This<br>resulted in a closing surplus of<br>£86,311 to be carried forward into the<br>next year.<br>However, of this surplus, £54,172 is<br>restricted by various funding bodies<br>and donors to enable completion of<br>the CAST community project<br>Statement explaining  Para 1.22 The Charity is holding a reserve in the<br>the policy for holding  accounts of £32,000 unrestricted<br>reserves stating why  funds. I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended **05/02/2021** . 

- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

**Independent** I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have **examiner's statement** come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or 

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
