## Report of the Independent Examiner to the Members

| report on the financial statements of The Countesthorpe Baptist Church, for the year ended 31 December 2020, as set out in the following pages.

This report is made solely to the church members, as a body, in accordance with section 43 of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act). Our work has been undertaken so that we might state to the church members those matters we are required to state to them in this report and for no other purpose. To the fullest permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the church’s members as a body, for our work, for this report, or for the opinions we have formed.

## Respective Responsibilities of Members and Examiner

The church members are responsible for the preparation of financial statements. The church’s members consider that an audit is not required for the year (under section 42(2) of the Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- e Examine the financial statements (under section 43 of the Act); e To follow the procedure laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under section 43(7)(b) of the Act); and

- e To state where particular matters have come to my attention.

## Basis of Independent Examiner’s Report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the financial statements presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosure in the financial statements, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the financial statements present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## Independent Examiner’s Statement

In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

- e Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect the requirements to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act and to prepare financial statements which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act.

Have not been met; or

- e To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the financial statements to be reached.
