Richmondshire Museum Trustee Report 17th June 2025

I believe that we have had a successful year bearing in mind that we were still suffering from lack of income due to Covid. Again the Lorna Dwyer legacy has been a great boost to our recovery.

My main topic is to report on the fantastic support we have had from the Management Committee, Stewards, volunteers, part time staff Zoe and Sylvia and not forgetting the volunteer gardeners. Everybody has ben has been so enthusiastic about keeping the museum going.

Our fund raising events were well supported including coffee mornings and lectures. We had working parties during the closed period maintaining the electrics, fixing gutters and roof. We have refurbished the shop and entrance which has been much praised by our visitors. We also provided two new exhibitions one featuring the Amanda Owen tv programme part of which was filmed in the museum and also the Fellmongers Company which was one of Richmond’s ancient Trade Guilds.

The goal this year must be to recruit more volunteers especially to join the Management Committee and actively pursue fund raising events and grants. Our landlords, the new North Yorkshire Council still have proved difficult to communicate with but hopefully this year we will be able to get them to visit the museum and see for themselves what we have achieved.

It has been a difficult year for Zoe but she has now returned to work and is recovering well.

Again thanks to everyone who has helped us (I believe) remain one of the best small museums in the country.

1. Basis of Accounting: These accounts have been prepared on a Receipts and Payments basis as
permitted by the Charities Commission for a CIO of this size. Gift Aid will be claimed in the following
year.
  1. Tangible Fixed Assets: The CIO has no tangible fixed assets. The value of stock in the shop is estimated.

  2. Payment of Trustees: No remuneration/benefits have been paid to Trustees or people connected with them. 4. Endowment and Restricted Funds: The CIO has no endowment or restricted funds.

  3. Other Disclosure: The CIO has no loans or creditors nor has given any loans or guarantees.

Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity's trustees: you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act.) I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
