CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
2025 has seen continuing athletic success for Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC, together with further progress in converting the potential of our major asset, the Norman Park Community Sports Centre, into reality for the benefit of both the Club and the local community.
The provision in the Centre of a growing variety of fitness activities, including the upgrading of the gym facilities and an expansion of the facilities offered by our resident physio practice, has shown continuing growth in user numbers and the Trackside café has become a popular social hub both for those using the Park and the Centre and for external groups holding nonathletic gatherings.
Our membership numbers remain high, with a considerable waiting list of youngsters for our Athletics Academy, which acts as a feeder to our Young Athlete teams. The BEES Academy for primary school age children is also in great demand. Once again, our Junior track and field athletes retained their National Youth Development League title, with the younger athletes finishing runners-up in their age group. Our initiative, in conjunction with local schools, to provide athletic opportunities to students with special educational needs and disability (SEND) remains active, with two of its members regularly competing for our YDL teams. At the British Championships, 3 of our senior athletes won their events, with 5 further medallists. At the English Schools Championships, 9 of our athletes were individual winners.
With the growth in usage of the Centre and a number of generous donations, our finances remain in a healthy state and we remain well placed to meet future maintenance and improvement needs.
The second of our Annual Athletic Address thought leadership events proved a great success with an eminent panel of international athletes, coaches and experienced administrators leading discussions on a range of topical issues affecting our sport. The proceedings were filmed and then published on YouTube for the benefit of a wider audience. It is intended that we repeat these events annually.
The Trustees met regularly throughout the year and held two joint meetings with the Club’s Executive Committee. The main focus during the year was to ensure our new strategy was communicated and responsibilities allocated to ensure its implementation. Financial matters, oversight of the Executive Committee and Norman Park Track Management Ltd, and revision of our policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative and national governing body requirements, also received regular attention. Considerable work was performed in order to bring the outstanding dispute with the Centre’s building contractors to an acceptable conclusion.
Finally, as always, on behalf of all the Trustees, I would like to thank our many volunteers for the considerable and productive work they do managing teams, coaching, organising and officiating at competitions, fund raising and in general administration. We are continually grateful for their support.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY
In its third year of operation the income at the Community Sports Centre continues to grow and we are reporting an overall surplus of over £100k, despite inflationary pressures. New and developing income streams, including the Academy (see below), are increasing income, which is in line with our business plan, ensuring we have sufficient funds to maintain the track and sports centre on an ongoing basis.
In the next twelve months we will be spending £277k (see below) on long term track maintenance and improvements
At year end the total funds in our bank accounts were £160k. This together with an additional loan from Charity Bank, an environmental grant towards the floodlight replacement and current year income, will be used to fund the following major expenditures during 2026:
-
floodlight replacement (£70k)
-
track repairs (£25k),
-
track respray end 2026/early 2027 (£182k).
ATHLETICS REPORT
The 2025 season was one of sustained achievement for Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC, showcasing strength both domestically and at the elite end of the sport. Across summer track and field leagues, senior competitions cross country, road relay and international championships, the club confirmed its place among the most competitive athletics clubs in the UK.
A. Summer Track & Field
Youth Athletics
The club, again, enjoyed success with its Youth Development League (YDL) teams. At the 2025 UK YDL National Finals, our U13/U15 Lower Age Group squad narrowly finished second overall, just fractions behind the champions in what was one of the closest finals in YDL history, highlighting the strength and consistency of the U13/U15 (Lower Age Group).
The older age group (U17/U20), once again, dominated both the area league and the national final (table below). Year on year our team managers produce teams that consistently perform on the biggest stage, a great testament to both them and of course to the coaches.
Because of their league success, the club again earned the honour of representing Great Britain at the 2025 European Athletics DNA Club Championships in Leiria, Portugal, marking the fourth consecutive year they’ve been selected for this international team competition. A squad of 20 young athletes, supported by managers and coaches, competed against Europe’s strongest clubs in the innovative Dynamic New Athletics format. They competed well and our athletes got a taste of international competition.

The club again enjoyed a successful season in the Kent Young Athletes league, winning the league!
National Athletics League
Our senior athletes, despite finishing one point shy of qualifying for the promotion final, can take immense pride in knowing we scored more event points than any other club in our division: 1708 compared to Chelmsford's 1676 and Herts Phoenix’s 1659. A fourth-place finish in Match 1 and a loss of officials points in Match 2 (which we still won on the field) ultimately cost us—but the season’s overall performance speaks volumes.
County Championships
A large number of our track and field athletes attended the Kent County Championships at Ashford in May. Many highlights and great performances and two championship bests, with 30 of our members winning their events and many others achieving podium places On the same day as the Kent championships four of our members won events including one championship best at the Surrey championships in Kingston.
Other Events
The club maintained a strong representation with members competing in marathons locally and internationally. For example, 21 members ran at the London Marathon with 12 going under 3 hours. 17 club members ran at the ever-popular, fast Valencia Marathon, with 10 finishing under 3 hours.
Over the summer track and field national championships, and English schools’ championships, our youngsters achieved multiple victories and medals.
The summer open meeting series also proved popular with over 1000 athletes taking part across the events.
Overall, it was another good season for the Masters teams in the Kent Masters’ League where they finished 2[nd] .
Domestically, many club members excelled at the 2025 British Championships in Birmingham. Club members came away with eight medals, headlined by Dina Asher-Smith’s British 200m title and several podium positions in throws, hurdles and distance events from Zara Obamakinwa (gold in discus), Faith Akinbileje (100m bronze) Bekah Walton in the women’s javelin Hollie Arnold in the para-athletics javelin. Nana Gyedu won bronze in the women’s shot put and Daniel Goriola (110m hurdles silver, plus 60m hurdles gold indoors).
At the international elite level, the club’s members again carried the Harriers colours with distinction. Dina Asher-Smith, Britain’s most decorated female sprinter and the fastest British woman in history, had another great year with great results as well as the British Championships, she represented Great Britain at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, finishing 8th in the 100m final and reaching the semis in the 200m. This marked another major global showing in a season that also included consistent Diamond League podiums.
Club teammate Sam Reardon, who had triumphed with two bronze relay medals at the 2024 Olympics, enjoyed a breakthrough year on the senior international circuit. Sam set a personal best of 44.60s and a European Team Championships record in the 400m, helping Great Britain

in Madrid, before his first World Championships appearance in Tokyo where he qualified through the heats into the 400m semi-final.
More international honours came from Faith Akinbileje (100m/200m) at the 2025 European U23 Championships, helping the GB relay team to gold, alongside her bronze medal at the UK Championships. Zara Obamakinwa gained international honours at the European Throwing Cup and the European Team Championships and claimed a national title in the discus. Daisy Snell continued to shine in the long jump at the European U20 championships in Finland. Daniel Goriola continued his progression in the 110m hurdles with British medals and representing GB at the European Indoor championships. Jeriel Quainoo also featured for GB in relay action at the World Relay championships.
Club members regularly turn out in numbers at Park Runs (the free 5k event on Saturday mornings in UK and many other countries). Most Saturdays see around 70 members run, ages from 11 to 80+, with several “podium” finishers (i.e. the 1st, 2nd or 3rd fastest male of female). The club tracks who ran the furthest from the clubhouse with “winners” running as far away as Japan, South Africa and Australia!
The standard of our athletes continues to improve with over 50 new club records being set during the track & field season from under 13 age group to over 70!
B. Winter Road and Cross Country
SEAA Road Relays
At the Autumn SEAA Road Relays in Aldershot the U13 Boys team won Gold, while the U17 Men just missed out on a Bronze in 4th place. The U13 Girls (16th), U15 Boys (12th) and U15 Girls (8th) all had strong showings.
National Road Relays
The same U13 Boys team that won regional Gold in September followed that up with a fabulous Gold at the Nationals. The U17 Mens team converted 4th regional to a Bronze at the Nationals.
Kent League
The club had another year of success at this season’s Kent League with team wins for the U13 Girls, U15 Girls, U13 Boys, and U17 Men as well as the overall awards covering U13 to U20 in both the male and female categories. The Senior Men finished 3rd overall in 12 to score races and 4th overall in the 4 to score competition. The Senior Women were 3rd overall in the three to score format.
National Cross Country Relays
Once again, the club had a good day at the National Cross-Country Relays at Mansfield. Highlights of the day were a Gold for the U17 Men’s team and a Bronze for the Senior Women’s team. The U13 Boys and Girls and U15 Boys and Girls all achieved top 15 places in fields of more than 80 teams.
London Cross Country Championships
For the first time for several years the Senior Men secured a podium result with a Bronze in the 4-to-score team event. The Senior Women’s Team finished in 8th place.
Kent Masters Championship
At the Dartford event, which has seen strong results for the club for several years, there was an

impressive individual gold, silver and bronze results in various age categories and a highly creditworthy team Gold for the M40 team.
International honours came by way of Eliza Nicholson who was the first GB U20 runner home at the World cross country championships in Florida.
Overall, the 2025 road and 2025–26 cross-country seasons reinforced Blackheath & Bromley Harriers’ reputation for fostering endurance talent from junior age groups through to senior athletes. Successes at national relays and championships were underpinned by committed participation across county leagues throughout the winter, all combining to deliver both memorable individual moments and strong team achievements across ages and disciplines.

Facility Usage
The past 12 months have seen the Norman Park Community Sports Centre ( NPCSC ) and Track continue to reinforce its position and profile as a leading UK athletics facility and a hugely popular local hub for the local community.
Each area of NPTM activity, indoor and outdoor, has seen encouraging growth , In addition to the usual gamut of highly successful outdoor activities on and around the track (training, open events, competitions, etc), notable highlights in 2025 have included:
-
an increase in the range and number of classes taking place in the studios and the gym, with an array of some 60 classes now on offer weekly;
-
the purchase of new equipment for the gym, broadening the variety of workouts on offer.

- the opening of the sauna by ‘PureForm’ Physio, which is proving to be very popular and has been a welcome addition to the site, commercially but also as a great fit within the facility as a whole.
The results of these efforts are highly encouraging. First of all, feedback from visitors to the facility about their experience onsite is invariably positive and enthusiastic, whether coming from members of the local or national athletics community or from the general public. It is particularly gratifying that the significant increase in activity at the facility has not dampened the welcoming atmosphere and community spirit that have characterised the NPCSC since it opened in 2023: this is a testament to the huge amount of work done by the stellar onsite team.
SAFEGUARDING AND WELLBEING COMMITTEE
Our two Welfare Officers both renewed their safeguarding/welfare role training which is valid for the next three years
We also provided:
-
Refresher Safeguarding Training for NPCSC staff
-
A safeguarding talk for the Academy staff
-
Added Sports Centre Manager as another club DBS officer
Incidents
14 concerns/issues were received, 1 of which was a serious concern, compared to 17 last year with 5 serious concerns
- 1 athlete concern of bullying, which was investigated and closed
The other 13 were low level concerns which were investigated and have been closed.
Safeguarding is reviewed on an ongoing basis at the regular meetings of both the Executive Committee and the Trustees .
Key Management Personnel
The board give their time freely and no trustees received remuneration during the year. The trustees have considered who constitute the Key Management Personnel (KMP) of the charity. Together with the board, these KMP are those in charge of directing and controlling, running and operating the activities of the charity on a day-to-day basis. None of the KMP receive remuneration from the charity.
Going concern
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis.
The charity meets its day to day working capital requirements through cash generated from operations, subscriptions, fund raising, donations and grant funding.
The charity's forecasts and projections for the next twelve months show that the charity should be able to continue in operational existence for that period, taking into account possible changes in trading performance.
The charitable group has net current assets at year end of £103k . The charity has obtained financing (refer note 13) on a short term basis to help meet it’s obligations. Cash flow forecasts prepared show that the charity should generate surpluses and cash to meet it’s operations going forward.

Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities
The trustees (who are also the directors of Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC for the purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing the trustees' report and the financial statements in accordance with the United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice) and applicable law and regulations.
Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under company law the trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and of its incoming resources and application of resources, including its income and expenditure, for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:
-
select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently;
-
observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-
state whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and
-
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charitable company will continue in business.
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the charitable company's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charitable company and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charitable company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
Disclosure of information to auditor
Each trustee has taken steps that they ought to have taken as a trustee in order to make themselves aware of any relevant audit information and to establish that the charity's auditor is aware of that information. The trustees confirm that there is no relevant information that they know of and of which they know the auditor is unaware.
In accordance with section 485 of the Companies Act 2006, a resolution for the re-appointment of Azets Audit Services as auditors of the charity was proposed and approved at the Annual General Meeting.

Independent Auditor's Report to the Members of Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC
Opinion
We have audited the financial statements of Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC (the 'charitable parent company') and its subsidiary (the 'group') for the year ended 31 December 2025 which comprise the Consolidated Statement of Financial Activities, Consolidated Balance Sheet, Balance Sheet, Consolidated Statement of Cash Flows, and Notes to the Financial Statements, including a summary of significant accounting policies. The financial reporting framework that has been applied in their preparation is United Kingdom Accounting Standards, comprising Charities SORP - FRS 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and applicable law (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
In our opinion the financial statements:
-
give a true and fair view of the state of the group's and parent charity's affairs as at 31 December 2025 and of the group's incoming resources and application of resources, including its income and expenditure for the year then ended;
-
have been properly prepared in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice; and
-
have been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006.
Basis for opinion
We conducted our audit in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (UK) (ISAs (UK)) and applicable law. Our responsibilities under those standards are further described in the auditor responsibilities for the audit of the financial statements section of our report. We are independent of the group in accordance with the ethical requirements that are relevant to our audit of the financial statements in the UK, including the FRC’s Ethical Standard, and we have fulfilled our other ethical responsibilities in accordance with these requirements. We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion.
Conclusions relating to going concern
In auditing the financial statements, we have concluded that the trustees use of the going concern basis of accounting in the preparation of the financial statements is appropriate.
Based on the work we have performed, we have not identified any material uncertainties relating to events or conditions that, individually or collectively, may cast significant doubt on the group's ability to continue as a going concern for a period of at least twelve months from when the financial statements were authorised for issue.
Our responsibilities and the responsibilities of the trustees with respect to going concern are described in the relevant sections of this report.
Other information
The trustees are responsible for the other information. The other information comprises the information included in the annual report, other than the financial statements and our auditor’s report thereon. Our opinion on the financial statements does not cover the other information and, except to the extent otherwise explicitly stated in our report, we do not express any form of assurance conclusion thereon.
In connection with our audit of the financial statements, our responsibility is to read the other information and, in doing so, consider whether the other information is materially inconsistent with the financial statements or our knowledge obtained in the audit or otherwise appears to be

materially misstated. If we identify such material inconsistencies or apparent material misstatements, we are required to determine whether there is a material misstatement in the financial statements or a material misstatement of the other information. If, based on the work we have performed, we conclude that there is a material misstatement of this other information, we are required to report that fact.
We have nothing to report in this regard.
Opinion on other matters prescribed by the Companies Act 2006
In our opinion, based on the work undertaken in the course of the audit:
-
the information given in the Trustees' Report for the financial year for which the financial statements are prepared is consistent with the financial statements; and
-
the Trustees' Report has been prepared in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
Matters on which we are required to report by exception
In the light of our knowledge and understanding of the group and the parent charitable company and its environment obtained in the course of the audit, we have not identified material misstatements in the Trustees' Report.
We have nothing to report in respect of the following matters where the Companies Act 2006 requires us to report to you if, in our opinion:
-
adequate accounting records have not been kept by the parent charitable company, or returns adequate for our audit have not been received from branches not visited by us; or
-
the parent charitable company financial statements are not in agreement with the accounting records and returns; or
-
certain disclosures of trustees remuneration specified by law are not made; or
-
we have not received all the information and explanations we require for our audit.
Responsibilities of trustees
As explained more fully in the Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities (set out on pages 10), the trustees are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements and for being satisfied that they give a true and fair view, and for such internal control as the trustees determine is necessary to enable the preparation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error.
In preparing the financial statements, the trustees are responsible for assessing the charity's ability to continue as a going concern, disclosing, as applicable, matters related to going concern and using the going concern basis of accounting unless the trustees either intend to liquidate the charity or to cease operations, or have no realistic alternative but to do so.
Auditor responsibilities for the audit of the financial statements
Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements as a whole are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and to issue an auditor’s report that includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance, but is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance with ISAs (UK) will always detect a material misstatement when it exists. Misstatements can arise from fraud or error and are considered material if, individually or in the aggregate, they could reasonably be expected to influence the economic decisions of users taken on the basis of these financial statements.

A further description of our responsibilities for the audit of the financial statements is located on the Financial Reporting Council's website at www.frc.org.uk/auditorsresponsibilities. This description forms part of our auditor's report.
Extent to which audit was considered capable of detecting irregularities, including fraud Irregularities, including fraud, are instances of non-compliance with laws and regulations, We design procedures in line with our responsibilities, outlined above, to detect material misstatements in respect of irregularities, including fraud.
Because of the field in which the client operates, we identified the following areas as those most likely to have a material impact on the financial statements: Health and Safety; employment laws; and compliance with the UK Companies Act and Charities Act
In response to the risk of irregularities and non-compliance with laws and regulations, including fraud, we designed procedures which included:
-
Enquiries with management about any known or suspected instances of noncompliance with laws and regulations and fraud;
-
Reviewing board minutes;
-
Challenging assumptions and judgements made by management in their significant accounting estimates; and
-
Auditing the risk of management override of controls, including through testing journal entries and other adjustments for appropriateness.
Owing to the inherent limitations of an audit, there is an unavoidable risk that some material misstatements in the financial statements may not be detected, even though the audit is properly planned and performed in accordance with ISAs (UK). For instance, the further removed non-compliance is from the event and transactions reflected in the financial statements, the less likely the auditor is to become aware of it or to recognise the noncompliance.
Use of our report
This report is made solely to the charitable parent company's trustees, as a body, in accordance with Chapter 3 of Part 16 of the Companies Act 2006. Our audit work has been undertaken so that we might state to the group's trustees those matters we are required to state to them in an auditor’s report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the charitable parent company and its trustees as a body, for our audit work, for this report, or for the opinions we have formed.

1. SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES
1.1 General information and basis of preparation
Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC (BBHAC) is a company limited by guarantee and is registered with the Charity Commission (Charity Registered Number 1173422) and Registrar of Companies (Company Registration Number 00215991) in England and Wales. In the event of the Charity being wound up, the liability in respect of the guarantee is limited to £1 per member of the Charity. The address of the registered office is given in the Charity information on page 2 of these financial statements. The nature of the Charity's operations and principal activities are detailed in the Trustees Report.
The Charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019) – (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102), the Charities Act 2011 and the Companies Act 2006.
The financial statements are prepared on a going concern basis under the historical cost convention. The financial statements are presented in sterling which is the functional currency of BBHAC and rounded to the nearest pound.
The significant accounting policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below. These policies have been consistently applied to all years presented unless otherwise stated.
1.2 Funds
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity and which have not been designated for other purposes.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by donors, or which have been raised by the Charity for particular purposes. The cost of raising and administering such funds are charged against the specific fund. The aim and use of each restricted fund is set out in the notes to the financial statements.
1.3 Income recognition
All incoming resources are included in the Statement of Financial Activities (SoFA) when the Charity is legally entitled to the income after any performance conditions have been met, the amount can be measured reliably, and it is probable that the income will be received.
For donations to be recognised the Charity will have been notified of the amounts and the settlement date in writing. If there are conditions attached to the donation and this requires a level of performance before entitlement can be obtained, then income is deferred until those conditions are fully met or the fulfilment of those conditions is within the control of the Charity and it is probable that they will be fulfilled.

BLACKHEATH & BROMLEY HARRIERS AC
(A company limited by guarantee)
Investment income is earned through holding assets for investment purposes such as shares and property. It includes dividends, interest and rent. Where it is not practicable to identify investment management costs incurred within a scheme with reasonable accuracy the investment income is reported net of these costs. It is included when the amount can be measured reliably. Interest income is recognised using the effective interest method and dividend and rent income is recognised as the Charity's right to receive payment is established.
Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured reliably by the Charity; this is normally upon notification of the interest paid or payable by the Bank.
1.4 Expenditure recognition
All expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to the category. Expenditure is recognised where there is a legal or constructive obligation to make payments to third parties, it is probable that the settlement will be required and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably.
1.5 Charitable activities
Income from contracts and supply of services is recognised with the delivery of the contracted service.
This is classified as unrestricted funds unless there is a contractual requirement for it to be spent on a particular purpose and returned if unspent, in which case it may be regarded as restricted.
1.6 Raising funds
These are costs incurred in attracting voluntary income and those incurred in trading activities that raise funds.
1.7 Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost (or deemed cost) or valuation less accumulated depreciation and accumulated impairment losses. Cost includes costs directly attributable to making the asset capable of operating as intended.
Depreciation will be provided on land & buildings consistent with the lease period of 125 years (lease finishes 2146). Equipment is depreciated over the useful life of the asset.
1.8 Investments
The Charity currently has no investments in equities, either listed or unlisted.
1.9 Debtors and creditors receivable / payable within one year
Debtors are recognised when the Charity is legally entitled to the income after any performance conditions have been met, the amount can be measured reliably and it is probable that the income will be received.
Creditors are recognised when the Charity has a present legal or constructive obligation resulting from a past event and the settlement is expected to result in an outflow of economic benefits.

1.10 Tax
The Charity is an exempt Charity within the meaning of schedule 3 of the Charities Act 2011 and is considered to pass the tests set out in Paragraph 1 Schedule 6 Finance Act 2010 and therefore it meets the definition of a charitable company for UK corporation tax purposes. It therefore does not suffer tax on income or gains applied for charitable purposes. NPTM pays tax on any trading profits, which in the current year are offset by dividend to the Charity.
1.11 Going concern
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis as the Trustees believe that no material uncertainties exist. The Trustees have considered the level of funds held and the expected level of income and expenditure for next 12 months, taking account of the Charity’s ongoing operations, in authorising these financial statements. The budgeted income and expenditure is sufficient with the level of reserves for the Charity to be able to continue as a going concern.
1.12 Stock
Stock is valued at lower of cost or net realisable value.
1.13 Debentures and Bank Loans
Basic financial liabilities, including creditors, bank loans and debentures are initially recognised at transaction price unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instrument is measured at present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabilities classified as payable in one year are not amortised. Debt instruments are subsequently carried at amortised cost, using the effective interest rate method. Accounts payable are classified as current liabilities if payment is due within one year or less, if not they are presented as non-current liabilities.
Debt instruments that do not meet the conditions of FRS 102 paragraph 11.9 are subsequently measured at fair value through profit or loss. Debt instruments may be designated as being measured at fair value through profit or loss to eliminate or reduce an accounting mismatch or if the instruments are measured and their performance evaluated on a fair value basis in accordance with documented risk management or investment strategy. During the year, T Soutar, a trustee of the charity, held £10,000 of the charity's 5% debentures. Interest of £500 was waived. At 31 December 2025, the amount outstanding was £10,000. In addition, A Appleton, the wife of D Appleton, a trustee, held £20,000 of the charity's 5% debentures. Interest of £1,000 was paid during the year on normal commercial terms. At 31 December 2025, the amount outstanding was £20,000
