The main sources of income are fund raising events organised by the Club in the Wisbech locality. The Members are grateful for the support given by the ci3zens in this area.

The Club also usually holds several events throughout the year, which provide entertainment for those persons aLending, as well as being a source of income for the CIO.

Annual General Mee+ng - 2022-2023 President’s Report

including Lion Joan Diggle, who sadly passed away, Zone Chair and I.P.P. Lion Alan Edmunds, who is of course much missed, also Lion David Lilley who had served as a Lion for over 50 years. These 10 members have leb in good standing, mainly due to age or health problems. I ended my year with the club having 22 members in total.

Our Youth Programme con3nues, with Lion Jayne and myself collec3ng the Peace Poster Shield at Conven3on in Dunston Hall, Norwich. We have con3nued to help various Youth groups with welfare dona3ons this year, including Scouts and Guides. We have also helped with Abigail's wheelchair, Bobby's Buggy, Ravenswood Animal Rescue, Ben Chilton, Feed Fenland, Magic Breakfasts, BuLonhole Lake, Leverington Sports and Social Club, Womens' Refuge, Schools Partnership Literacy Project, and many others including various L.C.I.F. Appeals.

Our Ac3vi3es team, led by Lion Maureen Smart M.J.F. has ensured that we can con3nue to help many worthy causes with funds from our many events throughout the year, with our members helping when possible. Our Sleigh runs, Sta3cs a n d Christmas Market was a huge success, bringing in an amazing amount of funds for the Charity Account.

Lion Simon Crowson also did his amazing 7 Marathons in 7 days, swelling the Charity Account by over £1,000, as well as his poor sore feet aber walking many, many miles. The club is so proud of his sacrifice.

We have had several Social Events during the year, including our 50th Charter Celebra3on, which was well aLended with 73 people aLending.

We have also had several visitors and speakers at our mee3ngs during the year. 2ndVice District Governor Lion Colin Talbot badged up 2 of our new members, and Region Chair Lion Peter Wallwork badged up another new member the following month. We had a visit from 2 members of The Samaritans who gave us a very interes3ng talk, and also a former Harbourmaster of the Port of Wisbech, who is compiling a book on the River Nene. He was able to take away some documents and photographs provided by some of our members, and he hopes to return in the future to give us an update.

I would like to thank our 1St Vice President & Membership Chair, Treasurer & Club Administrator, Secretary, Welfare and Ac3vi3es Chairs, who have all given exemplary service, also our Board of Trustees, who are greatly valued for their con3nued support this year in helping us to maintain our group in serving our community, whilst having fun, fellowship and friendship along the way.

I am so proud to be part of such a friendly and suppor3ve club and sincerely hope that Wisbech Lions Club will con3nue for many years to come.

Vice President’s Report 2022-2023

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the last years President for doing such a very good job, such a good job, it left me very little to do as Vice President, other than attend Zone meetings. I hope that I can do half as well in my year as President.

Chris Gay Vice President

Secretary’s Report 2022-2023

I attended the Trustees meetings on the 20th of October 2022 then the 29th of March 2023 and also attended Zone meetings.

With the social and club members I assisted with Charter in 2023. With the agreement of club trustees arranged with President Marilyn, to contact Oakbrook for the, well deserved, M.J.F. for lion Maureen Smart.

I arranged with Chairs of Committees and officers for their reports for A.G.M. Completed new members directory, and updated details throughout year.

I was in touch with British Legion to arrange for the Lion Club wreath for Remembrance Day in November. I was in contact with District Secretary Keith Radley in relation to resolutions and delegates and alternates for convention and discussed at club level.

I was responsible for the voting for forthcoming Officers and Trustees, by ballot forms, and then sent details to Oakbrook U.S.A. In Preparation for the new lion portal, I checked members details and then contacted head

Both Lion President and myself were requested by Cam Sight to give a talk at the Rosmini Centre about Lions and L.C.I.F. to a visibly impaired group. We both attended the Golden Age Fair on the 14th of December.

The music licence was verified, for the sleigh, and the door to door collecting licence, from Fenland Council, was arranged.

It was not until I was asked about my length of service to Lions, I realised, that since retiring from full time work some 17 years ago, I had not missed a business meeting, my how time flies.
