Achievements and Performance

SORP reference

Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 We moved 90% of our programme on line
this year to support our users from being
socially isolated and reduce the risk of
mental health issues.
Staff and volunteers have adapted to the
new way of working with enthusiasm, their
adaptability has meant the transition was
smooth and accessible.
Our online sessions started at the
beginning of the first lockdown, sessions
run for an hour, we started at 20 but now
have 38 different sessions running a week
Monday to Saturday, they include exercise
classes, baking, dance, drawing,
meditation, story time, lyric writing, clothes
design, mindfulness, signing song, drama,
karaoke, film night, even a house party on
a Saturday.
Staff and volunteers have dropped
resources at times to enable everyone who
wanted to, to be able to access all
activities.
Family’s members have also got involved
to support in sessions that need, examples
of this is in our weekly beauty sessions
where they have made home-made face
masks and body scrubs, craft activities and
our Friday morning baking group. Getting
the whole family involved has created fun
learning opportunities for them too, many of
our parents did not have the confidence to
baked before, now they are supporting their
child to lead the Making Lunch session
sharing different cultural dishes.
Volunteers have continued to run the
Community Fridge, it has been needed
more than ever in these difficult times.
Those who were unable to leave their
home had treats as well as essential
delivered to their door, this service is not
needed as much as before but our delivery
service is still in operation.

We still attended the stables to look after our pony which was an essential for her but also an opportunity for the few we were still out in the community to have an outlet and activity to engage in which gave a great sense of purpose to their day. As well as prizes for the winner of games being dropped to peoples doors each week, Santa and the Easter Bunny made socially distanced visits, these were great surprises keeping spirits high and bringing joy. In anticipation of our Summer Programme where we have high expectations will be able to go ahead, we have bought a people carrier for our days our, we want to be careful and use public transport as little as possible for the near future so this investment will enable us to still access venues our groups want to access. Our plans will include a lot more open spaces, we can even run many of our sessions that we do at the moment on zoom outside with our group face to face. We have been able to continue to offer opportunity for the young women to discuss common barriers and strategies to challenge and respond in a way that they are more likely to be heard, being on a screen has not stopped thie important work continuing. Pre Covid - 19 we ran two social groups, one being male and one female, both offering a peer mentoring programme that encouraged social interactions with peers, activities often include bowling, cinema, sports in the park, swimming. All decisions where they go were peer led. We are hoping come July 19[th] these will resume restrictions dependant.
